How bad is your water name??

If you are an Aqua Utilities Florida take notice.. the company is proposing increasing your water and wastewater rates.

They are asking the Public Service Commission to let them impose a uniform rate.

For an average home that uses about 5,000 gallons a month, the company wants to charge you $40.92 for the water base facility fee AND $88.91 for the wastewater base facility.  How do you like them apples?

Elizabeth,

Have you considered trademarking the "How do you like them apples" saying? I think you should.

How come when i water my lawn or fill up my pool - the water company automatically calculates this usage into the wastewater fee?

If the water goes into my pool, into the lawn, or evaporates into the air - it is obviously not going back to the waste water treatment plant to be treated. So why do they charge for all water consumed?

My Orange County Utilities allready charges twice as much for water treatment as it charges for the water - so i guess Aqua Utilities is following suit.

One thing about these water companies which friends of mine has delt with is they always,,,always have problems so to increase prices had also better mean better service! NOT!

My bill from Deltona water has never been over $15.00 a month (and I have a pool)!!!! Guess the septic tank has a lot to do with it...a lot of the water bill is sewer...and if you don't have sewer.....

All of the areas Aqua Utilities owns in central Florida haven't had a rate increase since 1998 or earlier. basic cost and inflationary math are applied in all utilities. most of these people pay very low water rates compared to the municipal systems they neighbor. economic downturns affect companies as well, they are a private utility that is in the business to make a profit, and can't when they don't get a return on their investment

On 2nd day of boil water alert from Aqua Utilities. Notice gave no reason and said alert was in effect until further notice. Calling after hours "emergency" line resulted in talking to a person who no information. Great customer service, btw notice took over 12 hours after pressure drop to be delivered to residents. So we consumed possible unsafe water during that time period.

Day 3 of boil water alert, Aqua customer service has no further information, no estimated date when water will be safe.

water samples take 48-72 hours to return from laboratories, and even after they get them they have to let the water sit for a full 24 hour period to make an accurate analysis

there is a 24 hour window allowed for issuing of a boil water notice

"24 hour window" allows for a lot of unsafe water to be consumed. Why wait? If even a drop in pressure makes a boil water notice necessary, why not issue immediately? Why risk hundreds of people's health? Every time I have heard a municipal authority issue an alert, there was an approximate end time. Never just until further notice.

what time of day was the pressure drop, because that can have an effect on when a BW notice is issued
