Demboy08's Blog

I took a break from blogging for a while mainly because I had alot of school work but I am coming back because of this. After reading all these blogs about how surprised all these white people are that blacks have a cynical, negative and conspiracy driven view of whites I wonder how ignorant white people are of both black culture and racial divisions which continue in this country. I do not agree with what Reverend Wright said but alot of what he said is a general view by black america. If people do not understand why they hold this view you are truly ignorant. All conspiracy theories come from somwhere. Discontent with the effects of 9/11 led to the conspiracy theories just as discontent with oppurtunities for black americans and continuing racism leads to this type of anger. Racism is still widespread in america according to recent surveys. Americans cannot act out their racism due to political correctness but it hovers just beneath the surface of our society. Maybe that is why so many blacks think they can't get jobs heck maybe their right part of the time. I do not know. I just find it silly that so many people are so surprised when a racialeconomic group that is so far down the economic ladder is so angry. What is even stupider is that people are blaming a man who is part of the group for listening to this guy. Oh well good old fashioned guilt by association we will never learn. Always letting others define us instead of being allowed to define ourselves.

Many blacks today who are "so far down on the economic ladder" are there, not because of the color of their skin, but because of many other reasons. Many did not avail themselves of the free education available in the public school system. As a consequence they cannot read, write or even speak correct English. They can't do math, science or other subjects. They don't know where New York or Germany are except that they can get there by purchasing a ticket. They dress in a manner that makes them look like thugs, they talk like thugs, they disrespect women and old people and they listen to music that would scare most people away and they have "in your face" attitudes. I have worked with many black people who got their education and who act in an acceptable manner towards other people both black and white. I live in a mixed neighborhood and many of my black neighbors are better off than me. I think that discrimination in the workplace will always favor those who have prepared themselves for work and who can get along with their co-workers. Those who haven't prepared themselves will always end up "far down on the economic ladder" be they be white, black, brown, yellow or red.
I believe that most blacks who lived through segregation, Jim Crow and the civil rights movement would roll over in their graves if they saw the waste that many of today's black youth have made of their freedom and opportunity!

How about this question. This is general, but it happens all the time, everywhere. You fired me because I'm black, and I'm going to file a law suit. How many times do you here that? How many times do you here someone say, you fired me because I'm white? Answer that! I'm not trying to make any arguements here, just stating a fact. These very effective weapons, blacks use and they work all-the-time. I'm not a racist, but I'm tired of this tactic. And when you here the word minority, what comes to mind? Take KC, who is really the minority? I could go on and on about this issue, but I'll stay somewhat nuetral.

Define yourselves? Black business owners and managers also want people who have prepared themselves to earn a living. People in this country and any country get ahead and move up the economic ladder by hard work. No matter what the color of your skin may be the principles of business and work still apply.

I think that all people should define themselves but when they do and the results aren't what you expected be prepared to be unhappy or change your definition!

Try setting your foot in an all black bar (after the door man has to be paid more to let in a white person) and it takes about 2 minutes before girls are threatening to kick your butt bc your white. Even if you are there with your black friends. Does this happen in white bars???

Im shocked because i have never done ANYTHING personally to any black person. I never owned slaves, I've never fired anyone because of their color,I never gave a less qualified white person a job over a more qualified black person( I wanted people that could work hard and smart)I would never withhold help from a person based on the color of their skin(just ask the 2 black women that I rescued at 10pm at night in Independence-I repaired their car on the roadside and didnt even charge them for a part I was lucky enough to have with me-I did it free of charge and felt that it would come back to me ten fold and it has. That night it wasnt 1 white guy and 2 black women-it was three Americans comming together in a time of need.
Im absolutely shocked that the black community has the AUDACITY to claim they cant make it in this country when I see many others that are doing just fine.

Though everything is illogical about race being a determining factor in judging someone the fact is it is no matter how much you don't like it or it is unfair. We are identified as part of a racial group just as we are identified as a nationality or culture. We now haveracial division but with economic differences instead of blatant racism. People feel more content with people of their own race. Naturally a racial divide is formed. Blacks tend to reside in cities with less money so the public schools are much worse than in the suburbs. Therefore they do not have equal oppurtunity. The handful of affirmitive action programs do not come close to making up for what is still a huge income gap both individually and for communities.

Agreed odessacon. I posted something very similar to your post, but it isn't showing up for some reason. I'm not going to re-type.

Basically I'm tired of people trying to make me ashamed of being white. *I* didn't kill Indians, *I* didn't own slaves, *I* didn't fire someone for being the wrong color, and I AM NOT THE MAN.

anyone who says any of the above things is just as guilty as any white racist. Not all whites are racist by default.

I am no9t crying a river and I am actually white but to just say everyone is the same regardless of race is to forget about the huge cultural differences from race to race.

Have you not seen the afluent black people in the malls in overland park, lenexa etc?The black people that wont better their situation suffer from their own issues-whatever they may be. You,demboy, should be ashamed of yourself. you are promoting the falsehood that the white man keeps them down and therfore make it easy for the blacks to use this EXCUSE for not suceeding. You bare responsible for perpetuating this myth that a black man cant make it in this country.

We have a black secretary of state, a black supreme court justice(both appointed by republicans I may add)We had a viable black canidate for the Presidency until he screwed it up by attending a racist anti-white church for twenty years.

We do not have slaves in America-slavery is still rampant in Africa.

Who was the first nation to spill the blood of their countrymen to abolish slavery.

Where can you find the freedom and tolerance that we enjoy in America? Name it?Where is this magic land that is better than us?

Dem, I see your point about everyone being culturally different, but we need to concentrate more on being a community of Americans and appreciate eachother's cultural differences. This is something that I think is easier to do for the younger generations, which is why I think alot of us are supporting Obama- because we know Hilary is a flake and Obama is a smart, down to earth person who I believe will help our country, regaurdless of his skin tone. Obviously the black community largely supports him to, but he is white also. I think you'd be surprised to find out how many white people do support Obama. I am a white female, that doesn't mean I support Hilary. And yes Jstol, I agree that people make their life what it is. Sure, some people maybe born into a life with more opportunity (OF ALL RACES) and some people are born into poverty (OF ALL RACES). Each indvidual must decide for himself what kind of life they are going to lead, be it constructive or destructive. And that decision that the individual makes cannot be just blamed on race.

Wow. Remember the statement, "United we stand;divided we fall"? Why does anyone have to be called anything but an American! Demboy, I was curious as to where you got your information about that blacks "tend to reside in cities with less money"? Hmmm...Are there no blacks in New York? LA? Houston? How come Martin Luther King, whom I greatly respect, devoted his life to equality, and a great number of blacks are trying their best to be different. I guess it is just a sub-culture I suppose. I just don't get racism.

I DONT THINK ANYONE IS SHOCKED BY THE WAY BLACKS ARE ACTING,AS THEY HAVE ALWAYS HATED WHITES AND OTHER PEOPLE WHO DONT WANT TO AGREE WITH THEM.BUT WHEN THE MEN START TO GET WEALTHY.WHO DO MOST OF THEM GET FOR WIFES AND GIRL FRIENDS. WANT TO BLAME EVERYTHING ON OTHERS AS THEY CANT STAND TO ADMIT JUST MAYBE THAT WAS MY FAULT. WHEN THEY NEED SOMETHING, THEY RUN TO THE WHITE MAN AND ALWAYS WANT THE GOVERMENT TO GIVE THEM SOMETHING FREE.WAKE UP AND QUIT FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF AS THERE A LOT MORE POOR PEOPLE IN AMERICA THAT IS NOT PAMPERED AS THE BLACKS ARE THE MOST PAMPERED PEOPLE IN AMERICA.

Yenrab, Allright I am probably going to make a number of people mad but here is the thing. In larger cities the centers tend to be poorer and blacks tend to live in the suburbs this is just racial dacts not prejudices. The inner parts of both NYC and LA are poor. Harlem anybody.
Odessacon, Europe banned slavery long before the U.S. did and the civil war was not really about slavery any first year history major could tell you that. It was more about the tariff and economics of the north and south. Slavery is not legal in Africa but we still profit from it. Our companies like Hersheys and Nestle buy much of the cocoa beans harvested by slaves so we can have low prices!

I am a Freshman at UW Madison. I believe in real solutions to real problems. I didn't see the Republicans offering any of them so I a gave the Democrats a chance to do something. I believe both parties are too polarized now to get things done so I think moderates are needed. I am a moderate liberal. I spent months deciding who to support in the presidential election but I finally have decided to vote for Senator Barrack Obama. I love studying world problems, playing tennis, playing video games and now blogging.
