Demboy08's Blog

I took a break from blogging for a while mainly because I had alot of school work but I am coming back because of this. After reading all these blogs about how surprised all these white people are that blacks have a cynical, negative and conspiracy driven view of whites I wonder how ignorant white people are of both black culture and racial divisions which continue in this country. I do not agree with what Reverend Wright said but alot of what he said is a general view by black america. If people do not understand why they hold this view you are truly ignorant. All conspiracy theories come from somwhere. Discontent with the effects of 9/11 led to the conspiracy theories just as discontent with oppurtunities for black americans and continuing racism leads to this type of anger. Racism is still widespread in america according to recent surveys. Americans cannot act out their racism due to political correctness but it hovers just beneath the surface of our society. Maybe that is why so many blacks think they can't get jobs heck maybe their right part of the time. I do not know. I just find it silly that so many people are so surprised when a racialeconomic group that is so far down the economic ladder is so angry. What is even stupider is that people are blaming a man who is part of the group for listening to this guy. Oh well good old fashioned guilt by association we will never learn. Always letting others define us instead of being allowed to define ourselves.

It is called mud slinging. They are politicians and this is part of politics. It works well when you see if racist views sticks to a candidate. I think most conservative right wingers know blacks will never forget or forgive America about their struggle over slavery or civil rights. I personally do not care about other people and especially those that lack the knowledge or ambition to proper in such a great Country like mine. VOTE REPUBLICAN

I think blacks have just as much racism (hatred)against whites, most think that whites owe them something cause of slavery, I don't think there is one black person alive that was in slavery so I don't owe anything to anyone. this is a sore subject with me, we live in a country that will always have racism, but not by all of it's people, blacks, whites, asian, hispanics all have a chance to work in america, some choose not to get out there and try to make something of themselves, I have no problems with cultures of a different race and know many of them, so I am not ignorant white person.

I worked in the construction trades for over 40 years and I can count on one hand the number of blacks that I even saw on the job. Just off hand I bet they weren't offered a chance to work.
Even sadder, it's even fewer I've seen in the churches around, including my own.

Whether your color is black, white, red or yellow, you future belongs to you.

No-one can keep you from being successful, if you want to put forth the effort to improve yourself.

They are just wasting time, blaming others. Look to successful people, and see, "How are they doing it????" How do they live?

Racism is racism, it will never go away in this country. Black leaders such as Wright bring their race down. I am not surprised at all by what goes on in the black community.

I read your bio Demboy and wanted to make and additional comment.

The answer is not in the middle. The only thing you get when you straddle the fence is splinters in your rear-end. If you vote for a moderate Democrat, you empower the radical left. The radical left controls the party, and the moderate have no power, they are figure-heads.

I think that all of them are out for what they can get for themselves and their families.

None care about us. Spending 100 million dollars to get a job that pays $400,000.00.

Go figure that one out.

You will find that most of us do not hate whites. Personally I could not care less what color you are. What we hate is the stereotype of the good for nothing shiftless you know what.
As I am sure white folk hate the stereotype they have. The sooner everyone figures out we are all in this together the better off we will be.

I don't think that any one race really hates another, they just are afraid of them.

People fear what they don't know or don't understand.

The more information that can help them understand the other, the more we will be able to move forward.

First of all the reason I am a moderate liberal is because I agree with the Democrats on every issue just in a moderate way. The reason I think we need moderates is because of things like the last bill on illegal immigration that fell apart because no one would budge. Moderates will do the one thing the extremes will not: compromise. I think that is important.

You can put fourth the most effort in the world and not succed if their is no base to support you so I would say that their is a need for a bit more than pure optimism and a can-do attitude. I also think that it was profoundly unfair how our nation treated the black population after the civil war. This whole mess was caused because of the racism which became embeded in this country due to reconstruction failing. I look at cause and effect and this nation caused the culture that has become predominant in the black community whether it tried or not. 100 years of opression will do that.

Demboy08: The civil war has been over at least 150 years.

Yes well Jesus died a little less than 2000 years ago and he is still having an effect on society today. The fact is that though the civil war ended blacks have been legally discriminated against for 100 years after it. You cannot just erase the economic and social dammage done by that by saying "hey we won't disriminate agaainst you go get a job." I think it is a little more complex than that. Especially when recent studies have shown about 40% of both blacks and whites are racist. Its all just beneath the surface which might be why blacks have such little faith in whites and vice versa.

Demboy08: How do you propose to fix this?????

Well we have to start at the root of the problem the economic disperity. Affirmitive action causes all sorts of problems at the hiring level but I think that what we need more of first are scholarships for more black kids. The educational gap has to be lowered first. Also we have to spend more on the vital foster and social services that allow kids to work their way up. Remocving racial stigmas is a must but that is tricky because it is so hard to get people to awknowledge they are racist in the first place. This might be achived with better zoning laws which would integrate the poor into the richer neighborhoods like they do in Canada which has worked very successfully. People have to grow to know each other as neighbors and not as from foreign worlds.

I am a Freshman at UW Madison. I believe in real solutions to real problems. I didn't see the Republicans offering any of them so I a gave the Democrats a chance to do something. I believe both parties are too polarized now to get things done so I think moderates are needed. I am a moderate liberal. I spent months deciding who to support in the presidential election but I finally have decided to vote for Senator Barrack Obama. I love studying world problems, playing tennis, playing video games and now blogging.
