Here are some great travel sites to check out:

vacationstogo.com - got a Hawaii cruise at 80% off on it and no problems with it.  Lots of last minute cruise deals, but many aren't last minute deals too.

megabus.com - can get roundtrip bus rides to Chicago for $2 total.

skybus.com - cheap flights out of Columbus

kayak.com - comparison travel site

yahootravel.com - comparison travel site

Sign up with airlines, rental car, or hotel sites to get exclusive deals.  Sometimes southwest.com will send $29 one way flight deals to it's e-mail members.  Wyndham.com sends half off deals for certain hotels every so often.  Continental will send $99 roundtrip deals to many cities (sent weekly).

Try this: If you rent a car, get the cheapest one.  Typically the rental agency won't have the car in it's lot.  I booked an economy car at $12 a day and got upgraded to a convertible since they didn't have any 'cheap' cars left in the lot when we went to Vegas.

Don't wait to get gas to fill up rental cars near airport gas stations when returning the car.  The airport gas stations charge out the wazoo.  Most don't even have a sign showing how much they charge.

Went to skybus.com as I have heard of this new airline a few weeks ago. Don't think it's worth the trouble of driving down to Columbus, paying to park your car, staying over night in a hotel for early am flights, etc. Think I'll just pay the extra and leave from Hopkins which is 2 minutes from my house!

skybus.com only had a few destinations too. I checked this out a couple weeks ago and they only had a couple stops. They were cheap but if you can only go to 3 or 4 places then it really doesn't help too much.

If your far from Columbus then yes, it's not for you (gas, parking costs). Then again, if more people go there from Cleveland then they may set up shop in Cleveland. Skybus may have a deal if Cleveland doesn't have any if you are looking for a deal at the last minute.

Folks, Skybus is a BRAND SPANKING NEW airline. They don't even begin revenue service until 5/22. They will add more routes as time passes. Give them time to catch up, and they could eventually serve Cleveland, or more likely Akron-Canton.
A few things to be aware of w/ Skybus: It's true that the first 10 seats on every flight will be sold for $10 each (even to California!), but you have to add taxes and security fees to that. Also, it's a "no-frills" airline, and they mean NO FRILLS. Be prepared to board via the old-fashined "air stairs, not a modern jetway. This is another way of cutting costs. They DO accomodate wheelchairs, but I'm not sure of the exact methods they use. Also, you'll pay if you want something to drink or a snack, and there is no in-flight entertainment. You're allowed one checked bag; after that there's a fee ($50 I think). Your ticket is TOTALLY non-refundable, so be exactly sure of your plans when you book. I'm going to fly with them probably within the first year to try them out, so I'm not trying to discourage anyone. Just know that if you like to be "pampered," this isn't the airline for you. Their aircraft are brand new Airbus A319s, so you don't have to worry about that aspect.

A follow-up on the Hawaii cruise on Norwegian that can be found on vacationstogo.com. One of their 3 ships that cruised Hawaii is being redeployed next year. The competition and surge in capacity helped lower the price on the cruise, so it is being redeployed. You can still find the Hawaii cruise for nearly 80% off. Book this year before prices increase!

One thing to know is that you can order more than one meal, appetizer, and dessert. I went to town on lobster night.

People know me as the Coupon Guy. I typically save 70% to 80% every time I go grocery shopping. I usually save more when shopping for toiletries. In order to get such great deals I do rebates, 50% off and more sales, and coupons.
