It's unbelievably insulting. The media is so far gone from what they should actually be doing! The 'show' (i.e. Dem convention) is such a ludicrous pep rally that I know I'm losing brain cells watching that crap!

People, it isn't that Obama is the savior or even the spokesman for minorities, it is just a sign that times are changing in equality. It must be encouraging for blacks to see this happening, even the one's that will vote for McCain.

Holly75204, Clarice did say "African-American". She did not say "non-white". Even so, Obama is half white. Should he be more correctly categorized as African-Anglo-American?

I am sick of living in a hyphenated America with hyphenated Americans. I am sick of people thinking race matters. That comes off as racist to me.

When will we ever get past this? When will we see a person for their character, and not their color?

I "get the point" - he's a non-white. My point is that way to much of made of it considering, WE're not supposed to notice color, nationality, etc., but the character of the person. That is what Dr. King said, after all.
Besides, it's not really about color, except by 'liberal convenience' - it's about being a liberal Democrat. If he were a Republican, do you think the media would be fawnng all over this man?!

I agree with half the people here - when will we look past race instead of making it the center issue of an entire campaign? Obama has been able to use empty words like "change" and "hope" to propel himself into the running for President of the United States with absolutely no executive experience and very limited legislative experience. He was a community activist, which anyone can do.

I have no problem with anyone of any race running for the top office in America, arguably in the world. However, this guy isn't a good representative of America.

Here we go again, the misuse of the ethnic category “African-America”. Again I asked this question—What visual aid or methodology does one use to identify an African American? I was in New York last week watching the Olympics with my daughter . I said to myself, how many people are watching this event showing many black athletes representing various countries, and if these athletes were to come to America without their flags or uniform, I am sure the media and others will wrongfully classify them as African Americans. This blog uses two different ethnic category to represent the same man. As I have said many times before, I'm internationally black wherever in the world I go.
