Getting Oscar ready ain't easy!!!!!!!!!

For those of us working Oscar Sunday, we get a taste of the Hollywood pie.  We get to get all glammed up... our hair did... our bling on.  We get primped and pampered... manis, pedis, facials.  We fast, we rest, we spin... everything to squeeze into that great new gown.  You must of course have a great new gown!!!  One friend got hers at a RIDICULOUS discount at the Barney's sale, another borrowed hers from some fashion center, I got mine from a sale rack at my favorite outlet-type store.  The key here... you must look FABULOUS!!!... or at least something close to it.   The jewelry must dazzle... the shoes must represent... and the purse must matter!

It ain't easy being Oscar ready.   Therapists are on stand-by as the reality sinks in.   Picture-perfect LA-LA land sets a largely un-achievable standard.(my friend "W" and I have already commiserated about being/feeling old)   I aim to look like Angelina... my jewelry worthy of Julia...  my skin as smooth as Salma's... my shoes as sexy as Charlize's.    Reality is... I'll pull some pumps from my closet.  I'll mix my own Murad facial.   I've got a cute matching clutch(and pray no one will notice the stones that have fallen off.)    Ok... scratch the pity-party.  I do have a jeweler loaning me some jewelry.  And my dress cost $1300(so says the tag from the outlet-type store.) I've not heard the name of the designer, so I hope I no one asks "what are you wearing?"   I'll have to say... "something I got from Loehmann's for $300... with my 20% off coupon."

My day will start at 9:00am with some sort of ab tightening, flabby-arm removing exercise.(my dress is strapless).   I've eaten vegetarian much of the week to skinny-down.(except for the In-and-Out Burger on the way back from Wednesday's Child one day)   At noon, I'll drive into work and take advantage of the morning make-up artist... (praying my painted face will still be fresh at 9pm!)  I'll fly home to get my hair did at 2pm.(a Fox hair person is popping by on her way to work the night shift)   I must be dressed and ready to leave the house at 4pm.  At 4:30... we walk the red carpet!    I'm emceeing one of the big Oscar viewing parties.  Children Uniting Nations/Billboard party!   For just a night I will walk the red carpet like a SUPERSTAR!  I'll pose for pictures(praying there are no close-ups),  I'll be on the arm of my man(a musician who, to my surprise, loves ditching his jeans and t-shirt for a suit and tie.  I must say he cleans up well!)    My push-up bra is sure to make my breasts look ten years younger... 40 is the new 30... and as the emcee I feel the importance of any Oscar nominee... sort of.

By midnight,  the vision of Cinderella at the ball will all come crashing down.  I'll take a Wet One to the face to remove the MAC make-up.   I'll drop the dress to the floor and throw on old comfy sweats.  Stilettos will be replaced by slippers.  And my up-do will be up in a scrunchy.  I'll watch my TIVO to see who was best-dressed.   I'll make the bed.  I'll read the morning paper.  Check in on Good Day L.A.   Get ready for the gym and go to work. Ah, the routine of it all!  Back to the daily grind.

But for a night... it will be Tinseltown royalty... and right up my ally.  My beau, being a musician, will fit right in at the Billboard party.   And Children Uniting Nations is a charity that mentors and advocates for foster children.  So... on Oscar night I will feel right at home... with my family fighting for the children in L.A. County care.

Whatever you do, where ever you are... enjoy your Sunday.  Whether you watch the Oscars or not.   I'm sure being at a party with hundreds of people I won't get to watch much at all.  Thank God for Tivo... and sweats.. and scrunchies... and chips and salsa.    Monday morning isn't looking so bad after all!

Anyone have any Oscar favorites/predictions?  I aim to see as many movies as possible each year and am grossly behind!

Looking forward to seeing or hearing about your performance as emcee.I am sure that anything you set out to do will be a success and you will represent as you do nightly. No not really. Like most Americans while I am Oscar ready it stands for something else. Ignoring the "Pat Themselves On The Back Awards" that Tinselturd Town loves to foist on Americans while spewing hate America Propaganda. That is why the awards are going to be ignored by a greater many Americans. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the rest of US in America loath this phony gathering of hate America people and industry who publish the worst anti-American hating Marxist films...enjoy!

Meanwhile you still are the best and most talented anchor on Television!

Media... still very jealous you have HD TV!! Re: the dress.. not sure if I should tell the price or not. And, I looked at the tag again, and the original price was $3000, not $1300. Some bridal designer from Miami. I added some material of my own... in my attempt to be a fashion designer myself. Enjoy. Yes, I'm a bit nervous. My script just now came in... a few hours before the event.

Some strong thoughts. Thank you for the perspective. Because I work in L.A. news I have but no choice to be aware of the Oscars and slightly informed. I do have a tough time watching the extremely violent or negative movies. I chose to not watch one of the best pic nominees for that reason. I do love the party I am attending because it is a fundraiser for children in foster care. And one of the honorees has fought against child abuse.

12:39 Hours to go before the big event. I popped in to Fox to take advantage of the professional make-up artist. It takes about 1/2 hour to put on my face. Lisa Breckenridge is here too. She looks fabulous in pretty pink and is heading out to the actual Oscars red carpet.

Good news, bad news. I caught a wicked cold on Friday. Good news... I survived on soup and O.J. so I'm extra thin for my dress. Yea! That "home sick with the flu" diet works every time. You know, the camera adds ten pounds. Add that to the ten pounds I've gained in recent years... and the ten years of age I've added on.

By mid-Saturday my home remedies kicked in and we attempted to catch one last Oscar pic. Wasn't meant to be. I sent us to the wrong theater. Couldn't convince my beau to see "Enchanted" instead. My beau then wanted Pinkberry. He was heavily scolded for mentioning dessert the night before a red carpet event. He settled for peanut butter and a chocolate bar at home with a scowl on his face. And a re-run of Ugly Betty... complaining the whole time about being home on a Saturday night at 8:30.

I think I've battled the bug enough to ward off laryngitis. I get so hyper about events I lose my voice.

I'm excited to be a part of the Children Uniting Nations fundraiser for foster children. I'm excited to dress up and go out with my beau. I work nights, so a night out is a treat. One of my best friends is coming too. She and her guy got engaged Friday night, so we'll celebrate. A jeweler loaned me $30,000 in jewels. I'm so glad my friend is a cop, so is her

Christine,

I'm getting a great laugh reading the last comment you made on this blog! The part that makes me laugh is the part where you are talking about you beau getting the heavy scolding for mentioning the "Pinkberry" the night before the red carpet event, and how he had a scowl on his face, and complaining about being home on a Saturday night at 8:30. As a guy, I can understand his little plight, and if I were in his shoes, I'd probably do the same thing, or even worse. Truth about us guys: We can be extremely selfish and unreasonable if our pride gets wounded! I hope you're ready to face this when you get married. By the way, I saw your response on Gina Silva's blog...good for you! I also responded to her blog today.

If anyone asks you about a dress you wear in the future, and you don't have a great answer, here's one you can use: Tell the person that it's kind of a secret...that it's from a great designer, and that you ran into a great bargain that you'd like to keep secret. And just so you stay truthful and to avoid sinning, really mean it when you say it. After all, fearing and honoring God is more important, right? I am not encouraging lying or condoning it either, for those who are reading this blog besides Christine.

Another remedy which might work for colds: mix echinacea liquid into juice when you feel a cold coming on, or if someone is sick at the station, and you want some extra protection. The reason why I say mix it with juice is this: it makes it easier to take...the taste drives some people nuts otherwise. The liquid in a bottle s

Yes, I agree with what you are doing wholeheartedly Christine, and great you are doing what you can for the kids.

The problem is this entire film industry is just crumbling from the top on down. People just aren't watching many flicks anymore and I see exactly what is wrong and have been screaming about a great many issues for a long time. Unfortunately I do not believe it will change anytime soon. Thanks for all you and FOX are doing, you are all great folks.

cont.

The liquid in a bottle seems to get into the bloodstream faster than any solid can.

Christine, I hope you have plenty of fun at the party, and kudos to the organizers for taking a stand for children! I always enjoy reading your blogs. And by the way, you had a great response on Gina Silva's blog! I also have a response on hers as of today. Also, I look forward to reading more from where you got cut off on this blog.

Take care now!

ERRR!! I just learned my response above got cut off. Our web team just informed me that there is limited space.

Anway... I was saying, my friend's fiance is a cop too... and served in Iraq. I was he'd be able to defend by borrowed jewels. And, indeed he/they did!

In conclusion... the event was great(but long! We were there 7 hours... and my guy was READY to leave!)

Anyway... some celebs who were in foster care spoke. Ice-T, Tommy Davidson, and a man from "DMC." A superintendent was honored, two mentors and the kids they mentor, a donor to the schools, a General who fought for victims in Rwanda. Media, you're right, I saw Tricia's story, it was nice.

So, hey, Oscar night has come and gone. The jewels returned, the Spanks in the laundry, the dress on a hanger, the diet done... and tonight, Pinkberry!

Well I am sure sence He served in Iraq He was the ideal person to serve as your security.
Will there be a special show on your oscar/children program? Did anyone record this event? Maybe I could get a few pointers?

There is no extra coverage on the event. Just the news story from the night before.

Oh, P.S. Christine, I seriously and for a long time advocated Mark Thompson getting you on TSH as a co-host while Lauren Sanchez chair was vacant. I feel you would have performed excellent, especially with your very well defined Reporting skills. Just too bad it flopped. I told them what they needed to save it...oh well. Perhaps you will do a show of your own on the entertainment biz...!
