Calling all Ipod experts. Help??!!!!

Its known that I'm a little behind the times when it comes to technology. John Beard is at the forefront. First John introduced me to the computer... then TIVO... and now the Ipod. He got fed up with me being outdated and bought me an Ipod Shuffle last week. Nice guy!!!!

I decided to hit the ground running and build an Ipod library. Within minutes I'd spent $35.00 downloading music. Its so easy to point and click... and spend.

I'd love to hear about your Ipod habits. I'm not sure when I'll use this. At the gym, I'm usually in a class or training with a friend. When walking I feel safer listening to the sounds around me. In the car... yes, I'm one of those often on the cell phone. I'm still learning about how all this works. I built my library yet it didn't go into the shuffle. Is that called "sync-ing up?"

And to sum it all up and reiterate the fact that I'm a little behind the times... let me point out that most everything I downloaded was music from the '80s. HELP! I need some recommendations. Tell me about your favorites and I'll try to check 'em out. Ok, I did download Maroon 5's latest, and some Kelly Clarkson. Next goal is to transfer from cd's. Except for the annual cd I get from Rick Garcia at Christmas many of my cds are also from the 80's. Anyone else into the hair metal bands or disco?????

Have a nice weekend!

Hey Christine,

You do have Apple's iTunes, right?

The site that i like is a Russian music site. It's cool.

http://www.mp3search.ru/

The CD part is totality EASY! All you have to do is to put your CD's in your MAC or PC, then iTunes will show your CD. Then you need to convert all the songs from a CD into AAC files. Make a folder for your songs in iTunes. Go to your library in iTunes and put the songs in the special folder that you have created for that CD. iTunes will just IMPORT the songs from a CD into your iTunes so you actually have the CD in iTunes. SO EASY!

I get my CD's from the library for ONLY 25c. So just think, you know!

Well - I am age 39 so yes - I am a Metal-head. But I was and STILL into Speed Metal bands and Thrash Metal bands. Such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Venom, Anthrax, Metallica, and Megadeth. I am into the new bands too. I feel that I need to be update with the new bands. I kinda don't like the "death metal" singing with the new bands but that's Metal today. Just keep on an eye with OZZFEST!

Christian Metal bands are very creative too. Bands such as Demon Hunter and August Burns Red are my new favorites, however, Iron Maiden and Fear Factory will always be my all - time favorites.

Maybe Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance is very awesome signer. I don't know, Lisa Gerrard is very Dark and Gothic signer. If you want music to make you feel great - tell "Kitaro" is totality awesome Japanese guy,he has been around 30 years or so. Kitaro is the best for that - ALWAYS!

Sorry but NO disco! [laughs]. I will always be a tr

"Part Two"

Sorry but NO disco! [laughs]. I will always be a true Metal - head in heart!

You seen to be an intelligent chick - well on t.v. that's is. You will LOVE when you have import all your CD's in your iTunes.

I think that's what you are asking for ?

Blessings!

you came to the right guy christine. well here are some things i bought for my i-pod that you will need. first a aux cable. this will allow you to hook it up to your car stereo, your radio, your tv, and even your surround sound system too. did i mention your computer at work too. then i bought a adapter for the car too. you plug it in the cig holder like you would for your cell phone charger. then you just set the radio station what it saids on the adapter. i just like to listen to tunes 24/7. as for my taste in music. well i love hair metal bands. l.a. guns, guns n roses, warrent, whitesnakes, ect. i also listen to alot of new wave, 70's classic rock, alot of the new indie stuff. i love kasabian, the colour, the bravery. i'm also a big cult fan, and def leppard. i also recommend the 69 eyes, and the new nine inch nails cd "year zero". man i have so much to tell ya about. if you check my computer i have like over 14,000 songs. all from cd's. no downloading. well if you want to check out anything let me know christine. i'll hook it up.

here are some cd's to check out and put on your i-pod.

the 69 eyes= imagine david bowie's deep vocals, hair metal, and a lil goth to it, and that would make up the 69 eyes. the cd's angels, devils, and framed in blood the very blessed of teh 69 eyes are great cd's to check out.

the colour= if you like the rolling stones, then check out this band. they are everything that embodies the old classic rock genre with a modern sound to it. thier cd "between earth and sky" is flawless.

the bravery= if you like 80's new wave music, then i'm sure you will like them. best way to describe them is rock music with dance beats.

kasabian= kinda hard to explain what they are like. similar to the bravery, but more of a electronica/ a lil taste of hip hop type of sound and not so much new wave.

him= similar to the 69 eyes, both bands are from finland. a lil more modern rock sounding and less glam/hair metal.

ok go= "oh no" is a fun cd. great for partys or just listening to something more cheerful. they are a goofy, odd band

jerry cantrell= "degredation trip" if you like the whole alternative sound, or alice in chains, then this is a must have. by the time your done listening to this massive 2 cd set you most likly want to put a bullet in your head. very depressing, very personal, but a great album.

mana= "amar es combatir" one of the best cd's they have ever made. but pretty much any mana cd is a great cd just to pick up. if you never heard them they are a latin band that have many latin styles influences in their style of rock music, with a bit of reggae and pop.

part 2

the misfits= "collection 2" or "walk among us" is a great way to know one of the best horror punk bands. they were a major influence on metallica, guns n roses, and cradle of filth.

the distillers= "sing sing death house" or "coral fang" are 2 great punk/ alt cds from this band. pretty much every song is like a bullet.

danzig= "danzig 2" rolling stones said this cd was one of the greatest metal cd's ever made. i think that alone makes it worth checking out.

arch enemy= "doomsday machine" in my opinion one of the best female rockers leads this band. listening to their cd, most wouldnt know it was a girl singing. they are one of the up and coming bands around.

cradle of filth= the best metal band around today. "damnation and a day" and "nymphetamine" are great examples of why i would say this.

the cult= "dreamtime", "love", and "electric" are 3 of the best cds made by this glam band.

def leppard= "high n dry", "pyromania", "slang" are my favorite cds by them.

bon jovi= "bounce" a good cd, my favorite songs from this album are "you had me from hello", "undivided", "bounce", and "hook me up"

sheryl crow= "wildflower" i love this cd. so depressing.

john mayer= "countium" a great soft rock album, one of his best cd's ever.

billy idol= "greatest hits" lots of great catchy hits in one low price.

garbage= "bleed like me" the new garbage cd. i always enjoyed their body of work, and this cd is just as good as their older stuff.

rammstein= a german industrial band that sings in german. "rosenrot" is the new cd from them, and one of my pe

part 3
rammstein= a german industrial band that sings in german. "rosenrot" is the new cd from them, and one of my personal favorite from their body of work.

l.a. guns= "waking the dead" or "rip the cover off" are 2 great new cds from this old school glam band.

well i think i gave you tons of new stuff to check out. let me know what you think of them.

Thanks everyone for the music ideas. So many artists I need to check out.

Christian... I love christian rock too!!
Samo, you seem to really know music. Yes, I'd heard about the hook-up to the car.
Greg. I'm mac, not pc. Thanks though.
Nena... what kind of music are the new artists? I like the Blondie idea.

ERR... I finally got the Ipod to sync up with the computer. Something was checked that wouldn't allow the sync. I had to bring the computer into work for John Beard to figure out the problem.

My best recommendation to you is the best music of 2007. I recommend you download - Various Artists - Once (Music from the Motion Picture)from your iTunes Store. This is the most incredible soundtrack and you can use the music at the gym or anywhere you like because it is the music people are falling in love with this summer and you shouldn't miss out on it. Check out what Ebert & Roeper say about it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvRNNehMJGs and check out the movie details here: http://www.foxsearchlight.com/once/. There's even talk about an Oscar nomination for the music now. In a world of a lot of bad news this is something really good and sweet and truly inspiring. Enjoy.

Thank you again for the ideas. I haven't had a chance to tackle the Itunes store again yet, but it is on the to-do list.

I do want to add some classical for those mellow moments.

It has been my honor to work(anchor 10pm news) at Fox 11 news since 1990(yes, I started when I was 2!) Jokes aside, Fox 11 has allowed me to continue my passion for knowledge and education. My parents were both educators and stressed "knowing about our world." They were aid workers in Brazil(my heritage) and Africa and emphasized a caring for community. I love coming to work each day and being a part of "what's new." Fox 11 has allowed me to serve through our Wednesday's Child program. Our goal, to help children in foster care... who will end up on the streets at 18... find permanent safe homes. Through WC we are using the power and outreach of TV to find adoptive homes for children in GREAT need. My parents were foster parents and adopted one boy. I was adopted by my step-dad, which gave me the name "Devine." At home, I enjoying cooking and fitness. I have a new puppy for the first time since high school and am completely in love. (and with my fiance too!)
