For all of the messages posted about the May Day Mac Arthur Park Rally..

To all of you who've forwarded your support, thank you, you've made things easier..

To everyone who wrote criticizing my actions, thank you, as well. It's all food for thought, and thank God, the Constitution, (add to that blogging!) we have a way  to exchange opinions freely.

Freedom of speech, freedom to cover and present the news. They are blessings...

My prayers are for those freedoms, for the people who were in the park,
the journalists trying to do their job, for the cops and the department ( I have always been a big supporter of law enforcement, indeed, my husband is a retired officer), and truly for all of us..... may we learn from this, so that it may never happen again...

May we all - journalists, officers, demonstrators- be able to do what we need to do, without it getting to that point - ever again - just because a bunch of  agitators somehow managed to wrestle control and create just the kind of horrible image that they probably wanted in  the first place...

With best wishes for all our viewers...and my deepest gratitude for caring - whatever your opinion may be....

Christina Gonzalez

Hi Christina thanks for blogging, and I hope you and your co-worker are ok. I feel so bad for what happen to you and everyone else that was in the park that day. I can't wait till your 100% and back to doing to what you do best. I have nothing but respect for you as a person.

I’m sorry to hear that not everyone felt it was right what you did during the melee. I thought what you did was right. I also think it took a lot of guts to stand up for your co-worker/friend and to try and continue to do your job and report what was going on. Most wouldn’t have.

p.s. I always knew you were tough, even before took on the law. Check out my female fighter’s blog (evening news edition) I ranked you #1. Which makes you the champ. Just click on my screen name "samo714" and it should be the 3rd bolg topic on the list. If you have time check out the morning edition too. See what Jean, Elizabeth, Nischelle and Lisa B. have to say about their rankings.

very well.
Now please tell me, Christina, that my husbands hard earned money, our taxes, wont go to people that don't deserve it. People that will lie and exaggerate, to take advantage of our system. Please tell me that my children wont have less because our taxes are used to pay ridiculous lawsuits. Please tell me that our schools and teachers will be the ones who receive the money we WILLINGLY AND LAWFULY pay in our taxes. Please tell me that good, honest, deserving officers are'nt labeled "thugs with badges" because of a few. The same way good, honest Mexican people don't want to be labeled "illegal or beaners" because of a few.
So much attention to something blown up out of proportion. If mistakes where made, I have every confidence in our Mayor and Chief to make things right. But let it end there.
Do not take from deserving citizens, schools, etc.. to give to those UNDESERVING.

As for what you did, I don't admire or agree with it in any way. I'm sorry if you take this the wrong way.
If you as a reporter, set the bad example of ignoring police, pointing your finger in their face and yelling at them, what can we expect from those less educated?
I too hope WE ALL LEARN from this sad incident.
Better luck in the future, Chistina, and may God bless you and yours.

hi christina ,
im not denying the drastic measures the police had to take that day , but i feel alot is not being told either , it has now again became a race issue that is a sad but true reality even if people choose to close there eye's to it , i don't beleive in treating people badly ,but i think using this to get what you want is wrong too (im not talking about you but others who use this as a way to GAIN )i have heard people say OH YEAH ALL THOSE WHITE POLICE OFFICERS RUFFING UP THE PROTESTERS , WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO COME TO WHO'S RACE IS BETTER i don't feel im better than any other race , but i feel that you should be a citzen's if you want to stay here ,its not a personal vendeta against any race but it however is the LAW ....hope all is well for you :)

and to those of you that CONTINUE spreading your hate and negativity:

With your persistent badmouthing and arrogance you accomplish NOTHING- the only thing you do accomplish, is to bring those of us with love for our country, respect for our laws and way of life, together. Stronger we become- in the end, soo many of us will join OUR cause that you will completely loose any and all favor for yours. Your "cause" will be forgotten and lost.

I suggest you chance your strategy.

you can catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.

As I said before, I don't think this should be a race issue, but a tactical mistake by the lapd. Many people at the rally didn’t know what was going on and no one knew where to go. All they saw were a bunch of cops in a line walking towards them, pushing around innocent by standers, shooting rubber bullets and beating people with their batons. I would think seeing something like that would make anyone panic and add to the confusion. I don’t know how anyone could say that beating up a little 11-13 year old kid with batons from behind is perfectly alright. He was beaten down when he was doing what was told to do. Not only was he beaten down, but as he tried to get up to walk away, he was beaten down again, only to be dragged up by the neck. How is this in any way appropriate?

I also think Christina would know what the normal police procedures are towards the media. She is married to a former police officer, and has been reporting many stories like this for many years. So I believe her when she said that what they did isn't right. That the lapd were not following procedures.

I still believe they turned a small incident with a few anarchists, into a big chaotic scene. They should have dealt with the small incident in a more efficient way and let everyone else continue with their civilized protest.

I’m glad that the mayor is making sure that every officer that did wrong that day will be dealt with. I’m glad that the department saw the error in their ways and is now working on making it right.

Why do you think we can't get a decent police officer because if they do their job they get reprimanded. So when you get bad police officers on the force blame yourselves, because you want to whine and cry because a criminal got hurt or you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. When the illegals were demostrating, inocent people should stay away because trouble usually follows.

Christina, you are a class act. We miss you very much. Feel better soon. I know our great city will soon sort all of this out. So keep the faith. Right will be right again and wrong will be corrected. We love you in the San Fernando valley, you are the talk of the town. I also guarantee that this would never happen to you here. Our police have that human touch that clearly Metro doesn't have. Your fans the mclaughlin family

NOT EVERYTHING IS CONSIDERED NEWS.
Maybe it will teach you guys to mind your business. Instead of sticking your nose in everything, Like when my sister shot her 2 daughters, you fools were camped out on MY doorstep, bothering me. If I wanted to talk to u, I would talk to you. Instead I WANTED to grieve like a normal person. BUT instead I was bothered by you guys.

Chrstina you were just as disrespectful to our police as the other people were . I feel that if you wanted to do your job you should have stayed behind the police as they were trying to clear the streets of possible rioters. Why is it that when there is something going on the media always interferes with the work of the police ?? And that there is no concern about if you the media are endangering the public by getting in the way??? If i were in there i would of sued the media for putting more in danger. And as for the little bot who is suing the police for hurting is arm in the riot SHAME SHAME FOR THOS PARENTS THEY ALLOWED THEIR SON TO PARTICIPATE IN A VERY ADULT SITUATION THEY SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH CHILD ENDANGERMENT and the case should be thrown out of court !!!!! Oh wel it really does not matter what we common folk feel you and your crew will always have rights and the rights of the people are only suppose to be heard if the media gets involved. THAT IS SOOOOO SAD!!!! Oh well Christina god bless you and your family and remember your actions do affect all of us when you are out there reporting . JUST BE SAFE AND LET THE POLICE DO THEIR JOB .

You know, the media does over sensationalize issues, but at the same time, it is the viewers that give them the ratings. Yes many times they do go over board but does that mean that they should be disrespected, and at the same time, I feel that if you tell certain reporters to back the @*?# off and many times they will give you that respect. And as far as the police is concerned, it is not an issue of race (that is a word that I personally do not like using because I feel as though a race is something that you run or compete for, I use the word ethnicity) it is an issue of power and control and they do overdo it at times. There are bad apples in every bunch. Times have changed but from a different perspective and many times not for the good. It is the same face just different make up. I was a little girl when Alabama’s Gov. Wallace had men, women, and children water hosed, maimed, mutilated, and dismembered by German Sheppard’s, savagely beaten and even murdered. It was my father who watched is father murdered in Arkansas by the Ku Klux Klan, but it made me a stronger person. It made me compassionate towards everyone regardless of their faults or ignorance. I do not dislike a person because of the color of their skin or the context of their characteristic. I dislike a person because of them not knowing better and trying to overcome their ignorance. Get off of Christine and the ethnicity issue. Why is it that I hear more about the LAPD, than I do about Chicago, NY, Detroit or Washington, (D.C) PD, and I am from Chicago. Being out there this summer and winter, I heard more ab

about LAPD than I did about their own PD. I am not knocking law enforcement because I trained with them; I am just saying that there are rotten apples in every bunch.

I wrote this earlier today after seeing the Tyra Banks Show: Kids Focused on Racism:
Hello Tyra,
I am going to get straight to the point and shoot from the hip. I had a 3 year old and a 4 year old that I was working with, and I took several copies of Cinderella from a coloring book and colored them different colors or ethnicities. My 3 y.o. said that she did not want the light brown or the dark brown one's because they were ugly, but my 4 y.o. said that they were the most beautiful things that she had ever seen. I asked my 3 y.o. why did she think the brown one's were ugly and she said because they were different and they looked funny and she did not think that they were pretty, so I asked her did she think that I was ugly and she replied “no you are beautiful and I love you so very much.” I told her that she had hurt my feelings and made me feel real sad, and the 4 y.o. told her that she was mean and not nice. I asked my 3 y.o. did I do anything to make her sad or hurt her feelings and she said no. To make this story short, I had a nice long talk with both her and the 4 y.o. and brought it to the attention of the 3 y.o.'s father who thought that it was very shocking because he stated that he has not raised his children like that and did not realize that his little girl felt that way. My 3 y.o. continued to follow me, hug, me and adore me, but in the end that taught me a lesson as a 40 y.o. mother and grandmother. I as a black woman have experienced racism, and I feel that all of us to a certain extent are racist or prejudice to a point even within our own ethnicity which

Part II
which is nothing but a form of jealousy. My father grew up in rural Arkansas as a sharecropper and so did his parents and I can understand many or his views, but if a person has not had direct contact with racism to the extreme that my father did in the 1930’s then why display something that you do not know about. Get to know the person. My father saw his father killed by the Klan, but over the years, we have given him a dose of his own medicine that all looks ain't like, and slowly got him to realize (which deep down he knew) that all whites were not alike, because there are bad seeds or apples in every ethnicity. I have a problem with ignorant people not so much the color of their skin, just their mentality concerning certain issues such as the ones I observed on your show today.
