I just landed (we'd had enough of the "dodge the lightning bolt" game for one day!) and as of 8:30 there are still a dozen wrecks on the highways.  The worst areas are still I-20 at the Dallas/Duncanville border, I-35E at the Hwy. 67 interchange, northbound on the East Loop heading up from Fort Worth into Hurst, and 360 going up to the south end of the DFW airport, while roads of White Settlement are flooded out.

Also expect big backups on I-30 in Arlington and 183 is a mess.  No wrecks, just overloaded due to the rain.

How was your drive?  What was the worst area to you?  As for me, I'm just glad this crazy morning rush hour is winding down!

I am fortunate to be able to work from home, Chip. But it never ceases to amaze me how backed up traffic gets with a few drops of rain.

People in Texas don't know squat about driving in the rain. SLOW DOWN! Increase your following distance, and TURN OFF THE DAMN CRUISE CONTROL, IT WILL KILL YOU IN THE RAIN. In the rain accidents are caused by people doing SOMETHING STUPID. After a dry spell a light sprinkle is more dangerous than a downpour. The downpour washes some of the oil off of the road, a light sprinkle does not. It is as slippery as greased pig *&^&. SLOW DOWN.

Welcome to the chopper zone! If you're new to the area let me introduce myself. My job for FOX 4 is to cover the traffic and breaking news stories from high above the Metroplex! I'm a Texan through and through--born in Austin, raised in North Texas with a degree from TCU. My wife and I have been married for 12 years and we have 2 kids. I love playing golf and watching all sports. I also like to sing and play guitar. My secret goal? Someday I'd love to build my own golf course....but having the ability to retire on one would be great too! If there's anything I can do to help you plan routes through this busy part of Texas please let me know and as always: have a "Good Day!"
