First the city of Dallas asks for suggestions in their quest to re-name Industrial Boulevard, then they set up a "vote" for the five finalists and then the winning name gets thrown out?!?  Why did folks waste their time voting in the first place??  Granted the way votes were accumulated (max of 3 per phone # and only one max per internet route) was flawed, but still don't get it.  What about you?

Mr. Chip, you should read the blogs going on right now about this very topic. Most citizens are infuriated about even the suggestion. Yesterday, John David Wells, on talk radio 570 AM discussed the subject. Needless, to say the callers to the school had a view choice words for the idea of naming the street after Cesar. If named for an individual the street should actually be named after someone who actually contributed to Dallas. I looked it up and Cesar never even visited Dallas. I'm just saying...

P.S. I watch you every morning, in fact you are the only traffic reporter than I can listen to for more than 2 seconds.

You asked! First of all I feel that this is just another stupid idea proposed by people who need to find something to fight about.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO REAL REASON to change the name of any street, road, path in the city of Dallas -- or any other municipality.
Secondly, the choices were ludicrous and the method of chosing was absurd. Just another wonderful situation the city put citizens in. And they say they NEVER play the race card!!

It was flawed, Chip. Here's why.

1. It was a non binding poll - an opinion if you will.

2. Not all citizens were informed about it. I never heard of it until after the vote.

3. What if everyone got to vote 3 times in real elections?

4. Were you aware of a radio station in town promoting the vote?

5. Just leave the dang name alone.

What was the City of Dallas thinking when they created this new problem. Just goes to show that intelligent people do stupid things.

The City should have been talking about ways to fix the holes in the street, rather than changing the name. Now look at the mess they have made. (stupid, stupid) What were they thinking? Doesn't Dallas have enough problems without starting new ones?

This is an issue that should have never came up.

I think the whole idea of changing the name is stupid to begin with.Don't change to street sign, fix the road itself.

Thanks for the input guys. Consensus: a massive waste of time! BTW - If Dallas is going to rename a street in downtown Dallas, how about renaming Cadiz?

Well,if your going to rename Industrial, you just as well rename Cadiz. I am going to show my age now because I remember a radio show intro "Welcome to the Big D Jamboree, live from the Sportatorium,Cadiz and Industrial in downtown Dallas." And commercials for the Saturday night wrestling from the Sportatorium. I was at both a few times.

First-Round Failure Way is still my first choice, although if this foolishness keeps up, I have a second choice: Incompetent Leaders Way.
