My Dad sent me this email the other day and I found it hard to believe:

The Compressed Air Car developed by Motor Development International (MDI) Founder Guy Negre might be the best thing to have happened to the motor engine in years.

The $12,700 CityCAT, one of the planned Air Car models, can hit 68 mph and has a range of 125 miles. It will take only a few minutes for the CityCAT to refuel at gas stations equipped with custom air compressor units. MDI says it should cost only around $2 to fill the car up with 340 liters of air!

The Air Car will be starting production relatively soon, thanks to India's TATA Motors. Forget corn! There's fuel, there's renewable fuel, and then there's user-renewable fuel! What can be better than air?
Check it out yourself and see - What A Cool Car! Enjoy! :)

So what did you find?  Is this a joke or are we WAY behind the times?

Snopes doesn't have anything on it.

If this is a real deal, those living in DC won't have to pay a dime to refuel. They can just take them to a session of Congress.

Well - here is my opinion....

Don't know whether the car is real or not - here is what I DO know....

You CAN easily power things with compressed air. BUT - you can NOT refill a compressed tank with the compressed air hose at a gas station!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA

The pressure in a tank - even when it is NEAR EMPTY is 500 psi or so. There is no way compressed air at a gas station can have MORE than that needed to fill your tank - other wise people would be blowing tires left and right when they tried to air them up!

While the POWER part may be possible... the "refilling" part isn't. That much I can PROMISE you.

I'll check the other links out. Thanks, Ron.

Oh, you did! I read it! But, I'm willing to bet that when you add the word "CUSTOM" to air compressor unit it means it will cost around $5.00 per square inch. Whatcha want to bet?

That's true rusty!
Was a time you could pull up to one and get free air, then they started charging.

YUP put "Custom" in front of air and you have the makings of something expensive.

Why does everybody have to be sooooooo negative? I saw the site, but at present it is still in the prototype stage. Having said that, there have been air powered forklifts in ammo plants for years.
