The Other Chip

OK, so I didn't fare well with my Super Bowl pick (31-28 Bears), so I'll try my hand at predicting this week's biggest event, the likely announcement of a new Dallas Cowboys head coach.

After weighing all the available evidence, I'm going with the favorite this time... Norv Turner.

Here's why:

Norv will love to have Jason Garrett as his offensive coordinator, or at least he won't mind the fact that Jerry has already hired Jason.

Norv and Jason may be the best chance that Tony Romo has to develop into a superstar QB.

Norv is a safe candidate. He's well-liked and he has experience. But he also has a 59-83-1 all-time head coaching record. Oakland is a mess, I won't fault him for that. Washington - more potential there, so maybe he should have done more. But still, Norv has many positives.

Chip,I agree with you!Norv Turner and Jason Garrett would be a dynomite team and with the raw talent the Cowboys already have,I can't wait till preseason begins. We'll be back in the running once again.

Trying to get inside the mind of Jerry Jones and figure out what he is going to do can be a scary experience.

I think Turner would be as good a choice as he can make -- I just hate to see a nice guy like that get entangled in this zoo again.

So, all that being said, I am going to predict he will either hire Wade Phillips or boost Jason Garrett on up to head coach.

And hopefully Jimmy Johnson will get ahold of Norv and talk some sense into his head

I'll go with Lee on this. Norv seems too easy a choice.

Again, I'll agree with Lee on getting inside JJs mind...I figure I'll save myself the experience and allow Lee all the hazard.

Howdy! First off, I'm not the FOX 4 traffic guy. That's Waggoner. I'm the "other Chip" and I’m the managing editor of this world’s-finest newsroom. One of my responsibilities is to manage this website, so I’d love to hear your comments. Outside of work, I’m on the board of directors of Radio Television News Directors Association, the leading organization of TV/radio/online journalists in the world. One of the Top 5 highlights of my life will come when the Texas Rangers win a World Series. My wife is also in TV News, and we've got two great kids. This photo is me in front of a mountain glacier at the Columbia Icefields in Alberta, Canada. How to tell Chip Waggoner and me apart? We're both good-looking, but he's a Frog and I'm a Mustang, and that's all you need to know about that!
