The Other Chip

We've got some great bloggers here, and if you look around, you'll find people trying to help other people out. Turns out, one of our loyal bloggers LambChopSushi has written a short primer on how to put photos directly into your blog, using PhotoBucket.

Check out LambChopSushi's blog, and you'll see how she's embedded photos and video clips for you to see and enjoy. For the time being, you can get to her blog on the featured News blogs list.

You can also use photos you upload directly into your myFOXdfw.com photo album. Just follow the instructions on this site to upload photos into your own album. Once the photos have been approved, you can then right-click on a particular photo, then left-click Properties for that photo.

When a little box appears, highlight the URL of that photo with your mouse, and then control-C to copy that URL code. You'll use the IMG SRC tag, and your code will look something like this. You'll paste (control-V) your URL in between the quotation marks.

(IMG SRC="http://mymedia.myfoxdfw.com/media01/Avatar/00000/5
0/00/A~NT56338_med.jpg")

The only difference is that you substitute angle-brackets < and > for the parentheses for the string above. And of course you'll substitute your own URL-string for what I wrote above. Otherwise you'll get my picture instead of the one you want.

By the way, if you use insert a photo to your blog and it's so wide that it messes up the layout of the page, add this to the end of your tag: width=400, so it would look something like this:

(IMG SRC="http://mymedia.myfoxdfw.com/yourphotohere.jpg width=400")

Remember to substitute your own URL and remember to change the ( and ) into < and >.

Ya know...I sort of like the inserting of photos in your blog but sometimes they get out of hand and take up a lot of space and trying to get away with blogging at work makes it difficult sometimes when you click on a blog and you get a huge photo up and well...I think you know what I mean...guess I shouldn't be blogging at work, huh? Thanks for the info as I will probably be doing it myself soon...Dallas47Rocks always has great advice and info too!!!

I love the photos in blogs. The drive by photos I took of a one vehicle accident on I35 yesterday afternoon I was able to post in the blog.
I try and keep my photos small.

I followed Chips directions to a T

Nothing happens

I go back into the edit mode and about half the code I just pasted in is gone

Even tried turning my firewall completely off and still no pictures

I have a suggestion. We would all love to use all the new features, but people post the instructions and then they get buried in a layer of new posts. How about someone in power makes a blog that is just helpful instructions. That way when I have a "senior moment" I can refer to directions rather than exercising my vocabulary.

Lee, I was having trouble with links doing this earlier today. We need to investigate it. I wasn't having trouble with photos however.

We'll find out. Stay tuned.

Tru, thanks for the suggestion. We'll find some way to do this.

I've already forgotten how to do the links. I tried to retrieve your earlier blog about it but couldn't find it.

I agree with TexasTru. I think it would be very nice if we had a blog that was devoted to directions.

Howdy! First off, I'm not the FOX 4 traffic guy. That's Waggoner. I'm the "other Chip" and I’m the managing editor of this world’s-finest newsroom. One of my responsibilities is to manage this website, so I’d love to hear your comments. Outside of work, I’m on the board of directors of Radio Television News Directors Association, the leading organization of TV/radio/online journalists in the world. One of the Top 5 highlights of my life will come when the Texas Rangers win a World Series. My wife is also in TV News, and we've got two great kids. This photo is me in front of a mountain glacier at the Columbia Icefields in Alberta, Canada. How to tell Chip Waggoner and me apart? We're both good-looking, but he's a Frog and I'm a Mustang, and that's all you need to know about that!
