We in the news media get accused of crying wolf for winter weather, and so far you haven't seen much, right? But neither Ron Jackson nor I can remember the last time we had such a weather set up for an ICE STORM. We've had snow issues and sleet storms in recent years, but when was the last time we had a really bad ice storm.

I remember the New Years 1980 ice storm - the worst I've ever been through.

What can you do today?

Go back to our myfoxdfw.com homepage, and check out the safety tips. Think now -- does your family have what it needs to be safe in your home for 2 days? What if you lose power? Do you have batteries and non-perishable food?

And remember, if you get stuck (or even if you're not), blog about what's going on in your community. Are the roads clear? What are people doing right now in your neighborhood. We're here 24 hours a day!

Stay safe and have fun!

Hey Chip! We're READY for the cold blast. Got a couple of good movies to watch and we're making home made pizza. Stay indoors if you don't have to go out anywhere.

Howdy! First off, I'm not the FOX 4 traffic guy. That's Waggoner. I'm the "other Chip" and I’m the managing editor of this world’s-finest newsroom. One of my responsibilities is to manage this website, so I’d love to hear your comments. Outside of work, I’m on the board of directors of Radio Television News Directors Association, the leading organization of TV/radio/online journalists in the world. One of the Top 5 highlights of my life will come when the Texas Rangers win a World Series. My wife is also in TV News, and we've got two great kids. This photo is me in front of a mountain glacier at the Columbia Icefields in Alberta, Canada. How to tell Chip Waggoner and me apart? We're both good-looking, but he's a Frog and I'm a Mustang, and that's all you need to know about that!
