In todays America and for the world for that matter todays youth has run a muck ! We are forbidden to spank, control, quide , discipline our own children - and look at the price it has cost us- more children die at the hands of their own peers,  drug  abuse, girls gone wild on scandleous videos,  guns and weapons at easy gotten  by gangs,  pregnancy on an all time up scale, disobdient to parents, school Administrators and teachers, even the police . Why? what really gets my " goat" ( sorry gyro) is we aren't permitted to teach " about creation and God" in the public schools, yet they have no problem taking my taxs or increasing them in my property tax and continue teaching those pathetic lies of evolution which I am dead set against! The school systems stink! they have gotten to much authority over what they teach- yet they saddly lost control of proper and necessary discipline, and the most important teaching of all that is being pushed aside more and more is Jesus- both by parents, and the schools . I remember we had prayer in school before class began, it didn't hurt anyone, if anything it caused a contentment, the pledge of alligance- where's that at in the schools that my taxs pay for? We need to return to the old school.  well here is why I wrote this post:

Friend of Little Children

The children watched him suffer and die

and on their faces was the question -why-

for they remembered how He said " bring the little children unto me...'

and how he loved to hold them upon His knee

but now they watched this friend of little children suffering upon the hill called Calvary

tears flow down each tiny face

as they remember His gentle loving embrace

they couldn't think of any wrong He's done

they only knew of His kindness, His words of love

surely He was God's Son

they watched the ' Friend of little children '-

die at the cruel hearts and hands of men

the children knew Him, He'd done no harm

they remembered being loved while held in his arms

they remembered how He with gentleness would wipe away each tear

and make a man born deaf to hear

they remembered how He made a fevered brow to cool

and when He fed the multitudes till all were full

they remembered too the words He spoke on how to give

and how to foregive, love and live

and what they cherished best of all

was how He would hold them close to His breast

and while in His arms felt the peace and quite rest

but now...on their faces one could see their tiny hearts were broke

as the soldiers gambled for His cloak

and as they heard Him moan and cry

and finally watched the " Friend of little children ' die

little faces and tiny hearts began to weep and cry

as they beheld Him still wandering -why-?

"they have gotten to much authority over what they teach"-Cakhomelodge

That's their job, to figure out what to teach children, and unfortunately for the Pat Robertson crowd- it doesn't include Christian fairy tales and Bible fiction.

Who else's job would it be to decide what is taught in schools besides professional educators? If you want to teach your child at home, then do so, but at public schools they teach usefull and factual information.

"and the most important teaching of all that is being pushed aside more and more is Jesus"-Cakhomelodge

The Bible is a book of fiction and fantasy, it should not be taught with tax payer money becuase it isn't based on reality and promotes the Christian religion- which is unconstitutional under the 1st Amendment No Establishment clause.

"is we aren't permitted to teach " about creation and God" in the public schools, yet they have no problem taking my taxs or increasing them in my property tax and continue teaching those pathetic lies of evolution which I am dead set against!"-Cakhomelodge

In order to live in a techonological and modern society- people need to be able to grasp basic scientific principles, such as the origin of species and speciation.

We cannot continue to be world leaders in Biotechnology with people who are ignorant and have a view of history similar to the Dark Ages (when all Europeans believed in Creationism and lived in poverty and stupidity).

All life can be traced back to small micro organisms through DNA testing, Carbon Testing, and Radio carbon testing.

The same blood tests used to decide who is the baby's father or who is related on CSI also prove that human beings and apes (as well as all mammals) share nearly 99% of the same DNA and are thus related)

your mother failed.that is to sad. To bad God didn't leave you in the primate society. We also have to other important ingredients we share also- the Breath of God and we were made from the same organic dirt during God's creation! as usual - you miss the mark gorbie- if you refuse to accept and believe in God - that's your choice- but why do you purposely seek Him , by coming to the faith catagory only to try to steal and destroy the faith of others? One of these days God will knock you off that high horse you are on. You are gearing for a holy war you will not win! I will continue to pray for you.

Interesting gorebash, it seems when you lack the understanding of something, you attack it.
Why not just leave it alone? Or ask questions...maybe you can learn something.
Like it or not there are millions of Christians in this county which are quite disturbed at the anti-Christian direction this country is heading, led by the likes of people like you and your "progressive" agenda.
We want our children raised with a strong Christian base. Its not for you to decide for all of us to the contrary.
Deal with it!!

cak beautiful poem
quarry...i agree with you and cak 100%
gorbash...i feel sorry for you...to be filled with such PESSIMISM! and use common sense...if we evolved from apes then WHY ARE THEY STILL HERE!!!! when a species "evolves" that means "changes to adapt"...therefore humans did NOT evolve from apes!!! DUH

When I was in high school we learned about Greek mythology. No one threw a fit over it. I don't understand why religion is taboo in schools. Is it NOT history?? A book that has survived through time and influenced so many across the entire globe. Wars have been fought, and many have died in the name of religion. Is this NOT history? If gorbash does not believe in God, that is his decision, but I don't understand why he feels the need to attack religion on a daily basis. I find this very sad.

Beautiful poem, especially in light of the two incidences of babies who have died at the hands of those who were supposed to love and take care of them.
On the side of teaching values in school, I agree totally. We are allowing all kind of things that I find devalue our youth, yet when a group of people want to pray around a flag pole, the media gets one person who acts like they have been violated. For those of you, who are the few, but get a whole lot of attention, who want to be violated, then go to Iraq or other areas in the middle east where people live in fear everyday. There are so many young people who are searching for peace and if religion is that, than so be it.

I find that I can live my life day to day and not feel the need to shove my religeon down others peoples throats, wouldn't be nice if the christians could do the same. Not everyone is christian.

I didn't force you to read this, now did I? A GREATER ONE drew you to read this - and even He didn't force you to read it- no shovel was used here at any time- friend. further more if you detest " religeon" so much why pray tell are you " suffering " the FAITH CATAGORY? I obey my Lord Jesus " go make disciples of every nation...". My prayer is you will except Jesus as your Saviour.

No you didn't force me to read this, and for the record,I never said I detest religion,I'm actually a very spiritual person,I'm definatly NOT a christian and you prob.would tell me I'm some sort of satanist or something if you knew what path I follow(you people are good at damning those who don't believe as you do)I guess I just like getting under the skin of the christian faction.I know it seems like a petty thing to do to some, even those of my faith are content to let religious bullys push them around and not even raise a word against them, but I feel that it's my duty to push a few buttons from time to time, kind of like how you feel it's your duty to "go make disciples of every nation".
And as for your prayer,my dear,I'm afraid you're going to have to live with the disappointment that not all your prayers will be answered.

First, a spell check would do you some good. second, no one is shoving anything down your throat...in case it escaped you, this is the "faith" blog...jack@ss.
Third, if you have children (and I hope you do not) someday maybe, you will understand the value of a strong Christian base in the molding of a young person. Many of us pray for this to be instilled in our children in a time where it is a difficult thing to accomplish, with so much anti Christian propaganda being shoved down their throats.
Go push your "button" elsewhere moron!

That was beautiful! And you are right in everything you said Cak and quarry. We are paying for our children to go to school and get a decent education so why can't the children learn about God? I understand that not everyone believs in God and have different faiths and religons and that is fine, however why not make it an elective? That way the kids and parents have the option for them to take it like they do with foreign language it's not a mandatory class.
Gorbash...you really are a miserable person and I to will pray for you cause you carry alot of hatred and misery around in your heart.
spyder..I have respect for you only because you admitted that you like to "get under the skin of Christian faction" however that's where that ends. At least you were man enough to admit that. As far as your comment that not every prayer is answered, I believe that you are wrong. It may not be answered today or tomorrow but I believe that God answers all our prayers when he is ready and the time is right. That's called FAITH!

Jesus gave us believers a command to be His witnessess and to teach his words-I ought rather to obey God than man. and conerning prayer being answered- every prayer that is whispered in faith and belief -He that formed the ear shall indeed hear and answer- sometimes that answer will be YES, sometimes NO, and sometimes WAIT. as for your " duty" to push buttons- sounds like you work for the devil- the destroyer- please read Proverbs 17:19, 20:3, and proverbs 28:25
and no one here esp me has been dammning you or anyone else! sounds to me like you have a quilty concience.

In order for children to recieve a proper Christian education within the walls of a school, they would need to attend a Parochial School that caters to their specific denomination of Christianity. Public school is a catch all component owned and operated by the people...a broad myriad of people. I understand the spectrum of your "Holy War" but the Pledge of Allegiance is still offered in many Schools and I can't accept it as the Chritian thing to bash any form of religious faith. God Loves Us All.
