First I would like to say it is awful what happened to Lauren, I wont attempt to spell her last name.

Here is the problem I had with the story.  In the segment it was said the "Hollywood movie that glorifies serial killers."  Did the person that wrote that piece even watch the movie to make that statement?
 Yes there was a ton of killing, but guess what, it was about how the media glorifies serial killers and violence in general, how over the top their reporting is.
I found it rather ironic actually.


 

I detest mainstream music for the most part. I have a few musician friends that play in bands and I usually won't talk about them here because I'm just not like that.

With that said my friends new band Gladstone is amazing it is a very soulful group with music that catches your ear and lyrics that are far from elementary.

Since busting my pinky finger for a second time it resembles a z-shape, so playing my guitar is difficult at best but honestly I am somewhat moved and jealous. I think its time for the pinky surgery. I so miss creating original music.

With all that has been in the news as of late with drunk/drugged drivers killing the woman and her unborn child in Oconomowoc, to the little girl that lost her life in West Allis. I have been somewhat perplexed.

I walk twice a day with my dog, many days I walk up either National ave. or Greenfield ave.
I have been almost struck by cars on numerous occasions and I watch very carefully.
The day after the little girl was killed in West Allis. I was walking my dog by the library in West Allis when two little girls were crossing with the light .
They waited until it was ok to cross when a woman in a minivan on the phone almost ran them over (she was on the phone) she wailed on the horn at the frightened girls and started to yell at them. They did nothing wrong she was in the wrong, she was too busy yapping on the phone and wanted to make her turn to go to the library before more traffic came not caring who was crossing.

I then intervened and let her have it, letting her know she needs to un-glue the phone from her face and pay attention to the road, needless to say she sped away no longer turning to go to the library  the police officer coming up National probably changed her mind.

Here is why I am confused lets take all other factors out of the West Allis incident.
It has been reported that he was distracted on the phone when the accident happened.
Why is there not the same fervor and anger towards people who drive with the cell phone plastered to their head while driving?
Why don't I see petitions to strengthen laws against people who cause accidents while being on the phone??
These people are just as dangerous as a impaired driver as a matter of fact these people are impaired they are distracted. I see it daily with screeching tires because someone is distracted and never saw the light was changing and now have to slam on their brakes so they don't rear end other cars at the lights.

I am sure we all have stories of idiot drivers on their phones I have too many to post about and I am tired of it. Thankfully I don't drive at rush hour.

No we don't need anymore government in our lives, I think the government intrudes far to much but these people aren't going to put the phone down by themselves.

I watched a documentary on Showtime and was moved to question why the federal government still has blinders on when it comes to this issue. In this program, a woman with cerebral palsy which manifested itself mostly in a severe stutter and one hand being almost unusable smoked marijuana and her speech greatly improved, and she was able to straighten her hand and use it more effectively, something "traditional" medication wasn't able to do. Another woman with severe multiple sclorosis(sp)? didn't have as much pain when she smoked. Everyone knows of the benefits that it delivers for people with claucoma, sometimes slowing its effects enough for them to not lose their sight at all. 

There are many studies that refute the long claim that smoking it causes lung cancer, people with cancer going through chemotherapy are relieved of the nausea associated  with it. So why is it still not a legal medicine?
