I have been hearing a reporter giving a tease about a story that is planned to air on Fox13.

His question, loud and clear, is:
How is it that Sex Offenders on Probation are allowed to live in tents at a Campground for the Homeless?  How can that be their Address when they are supposed to be under Supervision by State Corrections Authorities, and the Sheriff's Department?

I am already of the opinion that a person with a Fifty Intelligence Quotient could spell it out where anyone could understand.  But, I will proceed, nonetheless;

  1. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to see that there is a difference between the "average" Sexual Offender and the "Predatory" Sexual Offender.
  2. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to allow these people to reintegrate into Society.
  3. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to allow these people to work and be productive Citizens.
  4. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to allow these people to live next door to them.

Actually, one does not even have to be a Sexual Offender to see this dynamic at work against them.  These sanctions are generally applied to most anyone who has ever been convicted of a Felony Offense.  People with a history of serious crime are no longer considered to be human beings, even if they have been going straight for years after they came out of Prison.

If you are not one who feels that way, and you don't happen to believe it is true, just call around to a half-dozen Employment Agencies and ask if they will place someone with a Felony Record.  I recently took such a poll for a friend who is on staff with an Employability Workshop, and I was stunned with the answers I received from the Agencies I contacted.

So, I ask you; if a Human Being is considered not a human being, and cannot find employment, and cannot pay for a place to live IF a place can be found, what are they going to do?  What can they do besides bum around and maybe panhandle for enough to but some food and beer, and live in a tent somewhere?

WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!  Don't you think they would be less likely to repeat their offenses if the were allowed to regain some of their Human Dignity, make an honest living, and go on toward a brighter future?  Evidently, that is what Congress believes in passing the Second Chance Act that was recently signed into Law by the President.

And the ones who repeated, in spite of the second chance given, would naturally labeled as such, and be given harsher punishment.

Otherwise, what has happened to our concept of Human Rights and Human Dignity.  How can we possibly cry out about other Nations violating the Human Rights of their Citizens when 0.9% of American Citizens are CURRENTLY incarcerated?  That's approximately 27 MILLION in a Nation of 300 Million . . . IN JAIL RIGHT NOW!

Does that make you proud to be an American??

I don't think sex offenders should be locked up at all...I think they should be shot. That would solve the redivision rate, that would cure their "disease", and that would solve their boo hoo dilemmas when it comes to housing and jobs.

Granted that some people who fall into the category of "sex offender" really don't deserve that label (such as the drunk man caught urinating on a sidewalk at 3 a.m. and convicted of "public exposure") ... but as I replied in another thread concerning the harsh conditions a felon faces after he/she is released from jail, that's where we in society have to kick into gear and keep them from committing crimes in the first place. Get back to teaching kids right from wrong and stop making and accepting excuses. Don't let your kids watch rap videos that glorify violence, crime, drugs, sexism, racism and homophobia. Don't run screaming about getting a lawyer every time your kid gets detention for cursing at the teacher. Set the example, set the standard, and kids will follow!

Texasex, so right. There is absolutely no attempt at rehab - only retribution and vengeance - and they expect them to be okay and go straight when they've been released into a society that is demonstrably hostile to them. Take mik1of3's comment for example.

So, mik1of3, next time you get the flu, they should shoot you? That is one Mickey Mouse Comment. I am sure you would exclude all of the Hollywood types, and all of the G&L types, and all the female offenders. That makes you a heterophobic bigot.

BayouVixen, you are on the right track. From what I know about it, the law has become so broad that no accused can escape the trap. But, if you teach your kids there are some things always right, and some things always wrong, the ACLU might come after you with their thought police in tow.

There are even several States which put anyone accused on the Offender List, without remedy, even if the allegations are found to be false. Guilty even when proven Innocent.

OK, Arky51, how does having the flu equal being a sex offender? And I did not exclude the celebrity sex offender; female or male offender; or gays and lesbians..so I don't know HOW you got on THAT particular slant.

As a victim of a pedophile, I know that these creepazoids NEVER STOP OFFENDING. There is no REHAB for them, They CANT stop offending, they WONT stop offending..and the only cure is a bullet to the brain.
My ex's uncle was a pedophile. He victimized many in his family, back in the days where such things were NOT discussed, much less prosecuted. Three years ago, he married a woman with an 11 year old son (like peds tend to do) and on Valentines Day that following year, he was found on his sofa with Valentines Day candy on his lap and a bullet in his forehead.
His wife was with her sister in Oklahoma--an alibi, not air tight, but we told the cops not to pursue charges. We figure what happened was she caught him messing with her kid, gave him what he deserved, and beat it to her sisters. She did society a favor.
You serve time, you satisfy your debt in the eyes of the law. Not society. The victim will be living with what those perverts do for the rest of his/her life, so it's only fair that the offenders do the same.

First off, It was just the Headline and the Story tease that focused me on the topic. It is not only Sex Offenders I am threading, here. It is ANYBODY who has been convicted ONCE. Repeaters of any sort have pretty well blown it.

By the way, the same dopes who say that sex offenders CAN'T and WON'T stop offending are saying that a man putting his hand on a woman's arm constitutes intention to rape. They also say that [...] are born into it, and can't change. I know several who left "the lifestyle" behind, never to return.

Well then, you said they are diseased and should be shot. Someone with the flu is diseased; then, taking it to its end by your logic, anyone with the flu should be shot . . . anyone with a heart condition should be shot . . . anyone with emphysema should be shot . . . anyone with AIDS should be shot . . . shall I go on?

Your thoughts are based on flawed statements of fact, and corrupted information. But, I imagine your mind is made up and you don't care about the truth. That's obvious by the fact that you not only condone, but even celebrate murder.

I do believe that MOST gays are born that way. Can YOU remember when YOU sat down and said, Hm, I can like boys or I can like girls. Which will it be? There are some that choose it, due to sexual abuse, and some that decide gee, that looks like fun, and those are the ones that usually go back to heterosexuality.
Nope, not saying that a man putting his hand on a woman's arm constitutes assault or intention to rape. Not saying that peeing in public is justification for being put on a sex offenders list.
I agree that it does need to be 'fine tuned' to where people on that list are genuine offenders and threats to society.
As for what constitutes a threat..who would you rather have around YOUR kid? Someone with the flu? A heart condition? Emphysema? AIDS? or a Sex offender?
SO's are a PUBLIC THREAT and they have no one to blame for it but themselves. They may have paid their debt in the eyes of the justice system, but society? Society doesn't forgive or forget that easily, thank God.
Flawed statements of fact and corrupted information? I doubt anyone who has experienced what I or other victims have would call personal experience "flawed" or "corrupted".
Do I condone and celebrate murder? Depends on who is at stake. I will raise a glass to the execution of Jose Medellin, just like I did to Sean Patrick O'Brien, and when Peter Cantu is executed, baby, I'll be outside those walls waving a poster saying burn baby burn! Same goes for Carl Wayne Buntion, if that ever happens.

I am a Christian, and while I do not seek out Death, I do not fear or dread it like most people do, for I know that God, through the death of His son Jesus Christ on the cross, will forgive me my sins and take me into Heaven where I will be reunited with those gone there before me.

I think that if either YOU or someone YOU loved have experienced sexual assault, abuse, or molestation, then you would be singing a different tune.

So who is functioning under "flawed statements of fact" and "corrupted information"? Sounds to me like the person who has never experienced such trauma is the one with the bad data.

The first who molested me was a WOMAN. And she didn't just molest, she had me doing her when I was only five years old. I was not lucky for that she did it.  Then there were several instances, later in my childhood, when I was molested by [...].

I see them all as perverted.  But, as you acknowledged, some do come out of it BECAUSE they are Human Beings, and they CAN change.  They are not driven by simple instinct, but are able to overcome their desires and urges IF THEY WILL.

And, that is how I KNOW they were not born that way, despite what some God-excluding "scientist" may say.  They may not know WHEN, or WHY, or WHERE they made the decision - and most are not even AWARE that they made the decision.  But, I know it is a choice.

Forgive does not mean we forget.  Forgive does not mean we approve of their behaviors.  Forgive does not mean they are not accountable for their actions.  Forgive does not mean we are not wary of their future actions.

Forgive means to trust in Him to do a much better job at vengeance than we possibly could.  Forgive means we give up our "right" to exact vengeance and retribution to GOD ALMIGHTY, Who is the Judge of all, and will judge all.  To forgive is to obey God.
