I have been hearing a reporter giving a tease about a story that is planned to air on Fox13.

His question, loud and clear, is:
How is it that Sex Offenders on Probation are allowed to live in tents at a Campground for the Homeless?  How can that be their Address when they are supposed to be under Supervision by State Corrections Authorities, and the Sheriff's Department?

I am already of the opinion that a person with a Fifty Intelligence Quotient could spell it out where anyone could understand.  But, I will proceed, nonetheless;

  1. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to see that there is a difference between the "average" Sexual Offender and the "Predatory" Sexual Offender.
  2. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to allow these people to reintegrate into Society.
  3. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to allow these people to work and be productive Citizens.
  4. Nobody: not the Lawmakers, not the Psychologists, and certainly not the Public, is willing to allow these people to live next door to them.

Actually, one does not even have to be a Sexual Offender to see this dynamic at work against them.  These sanctions are generally applied to most anyone who has ever been convicted of a Felony Offense.  People with a history of serious crime are no longer considered to be human beings, even if they have been going straight for years after they came out of Prison.

If you are not one who feels that way, and you don't happen to believe it is true, just call around to a half-dozen Employment Agencies and ask if they will place someone with a Felony Record.  I recently took such a poll for a friend who is on staff with an Employability Workshop, and I was stunned with the answers I received from the Agencies I contacted.

So, I ask you; if a Human Being is considered not a human being, and cannot find employment, and cannot pay for a place to live IF a place can be found, what are they going to do?  What can they do besides bum around and maybe panhandle for enough to but some food and beer, and live in a tent somewhere?

WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!  Don't you think they would be less likely to repeat their offenses if the were allowed to regain some of their Human Dignity, make an honest living, and go on toward a brighter future?  Evidently, that is what Congress believes in passing the Second Chance Act that was recently signed into Law by the President.

And the ones who repeated, in spite of the second chance given, would naturally labeled as such, and be given harsher punishment.

Otherwise, what has happened to our concept of Human Rights and Human Dignity.  How can we possibly cry out about other Nations violating the Human Rights of their Citizens when 0.9% of American Citizens are CURRENTLY incarcerated?  That's approximately 27 MILLION in a Nation of 300 Million . . . IN JAIL RIGHT NOW!

Does that make you proud to be an American??

Recently I was offered a position at a house for parolees. The person making the offer wasn't up front with me so I accepted and then turned it down when I found out that it wasn't just a home for parolees but specifically a home for sex offenders.

I know that if I had known there is no way I would have aggreed to it since I lack any training or familiarity with the signs of possible relapse into that form of devience.

Apperently it can be rather lucrative to find places for convicted sex offenders to live after they've served their sentence. Not my cup of tea... but something that needs to be done.

If the position had been offered by a more professional and knowlegable organization then I may have taken it. It should be noted thought that such organizations do not exsist or they are incredibly had to find.

Surely it is something that needs to be quietly but professionaly addressed.

those people should never be let back on the street period..and they should not be put in protective custody when they are imprisoned and given more privileges then someone who is in for a drug use and has to walk among hard core prisoners these scumbags should not be shown any mercy, pedophiles and rapist should be castrated those dirt bags have more human rights then their victims..

I appreciate your comment, statueman. There would be, I am sure, the need for much more expertise than is common even to "professionals." But, it can be known; and with few exceptions, all people can be rehabilitated.

Now, craftyguy, you are sounding like you know a lot about all this. Where did you get your knowledge from? The storyboards you look at? Or, did you take a tour of Alcatraz, once?

Naw, you're prolly just a floor sweeper in the art department, and that's all you could get and still say you work in the industry.

OH? Is that an insult? They've done their time, just like you did yours, or they wouldn't be on the streets again.

the men and women who did their time and paid for their mistakes are not an issue with me letting out repeat sex offenders and pedophiles that's another story..everyone within reason deserves a second chance ..but not them..any one who defends them is the same as them and on any yard or in any jail they would receive the real justice that fits the crime ..

Sorry bout dat! Maybe you should read a little more slowly and thoroughly, craftyguy.

I am WITH YOU on repeat offenders of any sort. In fact, I think a thief is worse than a child molester. A Pimp is worse than a Rapist. A Pusher is worse than a Murderer.
And, I am not defending Criminal Behavior or Criminal Thinking, by any stretch of the imagination.

Please go back and read Point #1.

that's true but I'm the public and i see the difference i don't except either ..look someone urinating by the side of the road to me is not a sex offender and shouldn't have to register as one and be labeled with a bunch of sickos ..but i have a 4 1/2 year old son and i want to know who the hell is in my neighborhood as well as everyone else has a right to know ..i don't care if my neighbor was an ex burglar or whatever but sex offenders often repeat its a sickness in the mind not cured by doing time anyone who messes with children or preys on women to me should not be given any chance to repeat and the public has a right to know who and where they are at all times ..

In my opinion, pedophilia and rape should both be treated as capital offenses.

And there should be no special treatment for sex offenders waiting for lethal injection. They should go straight into the general population of the prison where nature will take its course, thus saving taxpayers millions if not billions of dollars wasted on the neverending appeals process.

If even the most lowest criminals on the planet look upon THEM as scum, what does that tell you?

Craftyguy, you are right. They are sickos. They are sickos because a sicko did them. And that sicko was done by a sicko before. And so, you condemn the Victim as you are condemning the Perpetrator. And, killing them won't end the cycle unless you can somehow manage to kill them all. But you can't kill them all as long as it's okay to be gay.

Still_Aint_Your_Land, all you care about is the money. You only pretend to care about the Victims.

a sexual predator is no victim and i don't know what being gay has to do with anything..that's a choice between two consenting adults or teens or whatever ..i think its wrong but as long as they aren't violating anyone or molesting children who the hell cares..the only thing turning the other cheek gets you is nailed to a cross..

I was molested by gays when I was a kid, so I know them only as pervs.

i don't think being gay is OK ..whatever happened to you as a child was pure molestation like the priests of the catholic church ..there is no excuse ..a predator is a predator ..and i don't know what sin you think you committed ..letting some freak touch you or whatever nothing was your fault..whoever did whatever to you should suffer the fact your pain goes on so why give those dirt bags a break ? what would Jesus do if his little brother was molested say forgive him ..you know what then screw Jesus and his whole philosophy its stupid and wrong

I know that most of you cannot understand my position here. So, to explain.
I was molested by women and homosexuals in my early childhood.
The ONLY release I have found from my mental anguish and affliction that caused has been forgiveness.
Understand, that is not giving a pass to those who abused me. I will never say it was alright, what they did.
It is the giving up my instinctive and visceral desire for vengeance.
I pity them for their sickness.
And, I know that God can deal with them much more effectively than I, or anyone, ever could.

im very sorry for what happened to you and its great that you can show compassion for your enemies or just allow GOD to take care of it ..alls i know if someone molested my son..they would be the one who would be needing GOD

I can understqand that, crafty. I feel the same way.

But, the burden of anger and bitterness I carried hurt only me, cause I have not a clue about the identities of those who victimized me. I didn't even know I was a victim until many years and three disastrous marriages later.

Nobody talked about it and nobody reported it in those days. It's only over the past 20 or so years that such a fuss has been made over it.

Arky, I wasn't going to chime in, but, I have to. Unless statistics have changed over the last twenty or so years, child molesters, overwhelmingly, cannot be rehabilitated. They never give up the desire for messing around with kids. They can't, they're wired wrong. And since we don't know how to "unwire" them, without a doubt they should never be let out. Not even for a second chance, because if they fail their second chance it means another little kid became a victim, scarred for life, sacrificed just so some pond scum could get another chance. They also should be required to serve their time in general population, let them experience the vile they've been dishing out. If it was up to me, upon a finding of guilty, the molester would be taken to Civic Center Park at lunchtime and would be executed by the family of the victim in any way they would deem just.

Come to think of it, we ought to really cut down on our prison population. How many did you say were in our prisons? 27 million? How about this plan:

We take every last murderer, every last cop killer, attempted cop killer, rapist, attempted rapist, child molester, attempted child molester, kidnapper, attempted kidnapper, burgular, thief, every last robber whether armed or unarmed at the time of their crimes, every last illegal alien in our prison system for whatever they're in for, and every last stalker, and execute them.

From reading your bio, this must be like a slap in the face to you. But Arky, if I could be King for even a short while, this would be one of my first edicts, and this would be the ONLY WAY to guarantee that they would never ever reoffend again.

Actually, my math is wrong by a decimal point. It should be 2.7 million.

Patriot, that "can't be treated" and "wired that way" is a BS lie put out by people who can't admit that there is a spirit in each human being that cannot be treated with chemicals. And . . . . CAN'T ADMIT MEANS WON'T ADMIT - WOULDN'T DARE ADMIT.

They know now and have always known that molesters and the like were themselves molested and abused as children. But, if they admit that to the puplic, they would have to say that their boy-lollipops and A-hole buddies weren't born that way. They are having too much fun to admit it.

The reason Murderers aren't executed right away is because two-thirds are railroaded, and lawyers can take away a lot of Tax Money by pretending to look for "mistakes" in Capital procedures.
