Hazelwood Northwest Middle School is closed due to a bomb threat.

District officials confirm the threat and are cancelled classes at the Northwest Middle School.

School buses that were in route to the middle school were turned around before kids could be unloaded.

Parents were told school was cancelled as they arrived at the school to drop their kids off.

School officials say they will talk to the students about the severity of bomb threats.

Earlier this month classes were cancelled at Hazelwood West High School because of a bomb threat written on the sidewalk. This is the third bomb threat this year at a school in the Hazelwood School District. Your thoughts??

Will they be making these days up at the end of the year? They should say that for every school day interrupted by a bomb threat, two days will be tacked on to the end of the year.

It is my understanding students will have to make up these days either doing the end of the year or spring break.

To me it sounds like some kids don't want to go to school so they are making bomb threats. That is smart. NOT!!!

It was a prank, the kids know it and they know who did it. Kids love to brag, but why complain when you get day off.

The 15 kids I saw at the DQ just now were having a big ol laugh at how "stupid" the police and the school staff looked searching the school for a bomb. No cares and no worries as far as I could tell.

I say, for every day they miss they will make up 2 days of school. When the whole school has to pay then you can bet they will be more likely to point fingers the next time this happens.

As for the kid or kids responsible I think tossing them out of public school all together and mabye some time in a center for troubled youths might be in order.

There needs to be some kind of policy in place with the police department that will clear the building immediately so not to disrupt the education of these students. Also, make them attend on Saturdays as a replacement day for each day the school is closed due to bomb threat.

mrmgrady why in the world should my son have to attend school on a saturday for something he has nothing to do with???? when he came home this morning i had no idea what was happening,

this district needs to get a clue the superintendent thinks these are just kids pulling stunts yeah right, she needs to go and so does half the board, she sits on her thrown and smeerks at all the parents concerns and does nothing about them

how about sending the city students back to the city stop the bussing and stop taking vouchers from other school districts this is my district i live here legally and i pay my taxes so get rid of the rif raf and be done with it.

no wonder there are so many homes for sale in florissant mine may be next.

What's wrong with making the whole school suffer for the action of a few?

Maybe having the whole school hating your guts for a while is just the lesson that will get these problem kids attention.

What a perfect way to teach the bad seeds that their action effect everyone, not just them.

the school district has to take these threats seriously, however they dont have to import students from other areas that are in decay. why push there problems on other schools, make the schools they are/were in safe and able to retain them. no area is safe from this type of behavior problems. problem children need to be made to walk the same lines as everyone else or get out of the system.

Inrislord you need to get you nose out of that history book and wake up. Bussing students from urban areas is not the cause gang violence or other problems in suburban schools. It is close-minded, uneducated, prejudicial people like you who cause the problems. The school has accepted those kids who are bussed to suburban schools in the first place. It is people with misconceptions about these students who assume that these students are the cause of fights, drugs and bringing weapons into your school. In reality you need to look at the students who are already in the school who were taught by their parents to watch out for “them.” You are the one being a racist not the bussed students. Actually you should welcome them with open arms instead of slamming the door in their face. These “bussed” students are actually trying to fulfill their parents dream by getting out of a horrible place.

If you listened to the Hazelwood Police Chief this morning this is a problem happening throughout North County. But I bet I can also find some gang in Arnold as well. Gangs or gang violence is just not limited to one part of the city or county it is all over.

One other thing I think this bomb threat was by some students within the school not part of any gangs. Seems a little coincidental. I don’t know I am sure more will be reported in the news tonight and in coming days. The bad thing is I do not think this is the end of it.

I THINK THE POLICE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE SCHOOL IS SAFE AND STILL HAVE SCHOOL.

If someone is smart, they will catch them.... Remember the little thing called security and surveillence... Which costs more... No school or security....

hey mr_wildflower how are ya sorry i keep missing you at events

lol security at our schools is a joke, the cameras at hazelwood west high school dont seem to work other wise we would have seen who did the spray painting of the bomb threat there.

as for snoopydad24 i am not predjudice
but let me ask you why is it that the inner city kids are the ones with the guns and killing each other and the police, yes i know we have our problems here but we need to keep this out of our area.

Ok back in the day when there was a bomb threat we had to go to school anyway. We just had to wait away from the building until it was concidered clear. Thats what they should be doing now.

This is for Marley. I can not spell the name of the street but you will know it when you hear it. The area in Florrisant over by Wehop is nothing but gangs. The area at 367 and Parker rd. is nothing but gangs. I know that and I don"t even live in St. Louis anymore. So maybe you should look in your own backyard before you blame it on the city kids. jmo

All I know is this hits way too close to home for me....and is one of my reasons for sending our kids to private, not Hazelwood School district. It is a shame that school isnt even safe anymore. I would hate to be a teacher this day and age.....might get shot, beat up, or blown up.

JMO....Hazelwood School district is crappy

Cutypops.......367 and Parker RD, and Wiehopt are two way differant areas....now the 367 and Parker Rd area maybe gang filled. Wiehopt Rd is NOT gang filled. Every area, Florissant, Arnold, Ill......I dont care where you live has good and bad areas....I dont live very far from there...(Wiehopt)...gang filled? I dont think so.
