I wanted to share that a few weeks back I was covering a story in a very dangerous part of North St. Louis..All police had left and I still had one more live shot to do. After it was done and we were packing up...a police officer pulled up and said" This is a dangerous neighborhood, I will wait and watch you guys while you pack up and leave, so I know you make it out ok." It was Officer Norvelle Brown. I didn't know him, but I thank him for making us feel safe and watching out for us in such a rough neighborhood. THANK YOU OFFICER BROWN....My condolences to his friends, co-workers, and family...

I hope others give their stories about Officer Brown. It would be a nice thing for Channel 2 to give to the family. His children are very young so they will be cheated out of memories for him, it would be nice to give them other's memories.

OMG, April, you must feel double-ly bad! To cross paths with Officer Brown- especially so recently. He truly seemed to have been such a caring person makes the situation so much more difficult for anyone who knew him. Condolences to family and friends-and to other lives he has touched such as you.

What a tragedy. My heart and prayers go out to the Brown family and to the St. Louis Police Department for both have suffered a great loss. Officer Brown died in the line of duty while living his dream. His dream was to become a police officer so that he may "protect and serve" his community. In just 22 years he accomplished what many of us may never accomplish. May God rest his soul. In my eyes...he died a HERO.

Lilbity - you are a disgrace -- just wanted to get that out of the way. To the family of the 15 YO that brought this promising life to an end -- YOU"RE a disgrace! Regardless of the situation this CHILD was in, he had to learn of "the way of the streets" from someone. Thanks for taking such a promising and talented individual from this city -- any more family members out there want to "take care" of the rest of the force?? Wise up!

Wow, that is amazing April, i just cant imagine what would come over a 15 yr. old boy, with a gun to shoot a police officer. If some one can shoot a police officer, they will probably will shoot any one!!!

SPDD: Same Perps Different Day. What's the excuse for this? There isn't any at all. Is this 15 year being raised by wolves (in the wild)? When I was 15 I wasn't even outside at that time of night.

Today's society needs to do a total turn around because these 15 and 18 year olds (I hate to say this) are our future. In the area where Officer Brown was slain - it's your suspect description.

It's time to clean up society (all groups) and instead of blocking I-70 - come out of the closet and work on the true issue. Officer Brown didn't even see his 1 year anniversary as a cop while 25 year vets are shaking their head - how could this happen. May peace be with him and his family. In his honor let's create a law that doesn't allow the "juvy" option - let's call it the "Norvelle Law"!

I am deeply disturbed by the lack of prosecution of the 18 year-old who was charged with a Misdemeanor for "Illegal Transfer of a Firearm." The prosecutor did not believe that the gun was going to be used to kill the officer. I have to ask Ms. Jennifer Joyce, "What the HELL would that 15 year-old use the gun for in the first place???" He was going to kill SOMEONE SOMEWHERE!!! The 18 year-old should be tried as an accomplice to the murder of Officer Brown! JUSTICE DEMANDS IT!!!

It's crazy that many other officers dont take the time out to actually help people when in need. I know a few good officers, and one of them is my family member. Some will check up on you and others, well you know just go about there way. I heard officer Brown grew up where I'm residing now. Never met him, but I'm sure he was destined to help out when needed. Why did this certain individual take this young mans' life. He did nothing wrong but to help out. LIKE I SAID, THIS MADDNESS NEEDS TO STOP. I'M VERY SERIOUS. IT MAKES SOME OF US LOOK REALLY REALLY BAD.
