MOTORISTS ARE ALREADY REELING FROM RISING GAS PRICES.

NOW IT'S TIME FOR MORE STICKER SHOCK.

SOME STATIONS SELLING IT FOR AS HIGH AS 3.18 A GALLON.

THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS $3.03 PER GALLON ON AUG. 11, 2006.

JUST TWO WEEKS AGO, THE U.S. AVERAGE FOR A GALLON OF REGULAR GAS WAS $2.87, BUT THE LUNDBERG SURVEY OF 7,000 STATIONS NATIONWIDE ON FRIDAY SHOWED AN INCREASE OF ABOUT 19.5 CENTS TO $3.07. THAT'S UP 88.4 CENTS SINCE JAN. 19.

INDUSTRY ANALYSTS SAY THERE ARE SIGNS THE RISING PRICES MAY BE PEAKING, SINCE OIL AND GAS FUTURES ARE DECLINING.

THE NATION'S LOWEST AVERAGE PUMP PRICE WAS $2.80 PER GALLON IN CHARLESTON, S.C., WHILE THE HIGHEST WAS $3.49 IN SAN FRANCISCO

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? ANYTHING YOU PLAN TO CHANGE BECAUSE OF THE RISING GAS PRICES?

GASOLINE PRICES HAVE SURGED TO A RECORD NATIONWIDE AVERAGE OF $3.07 PER GALLON, NEARLY 20 CENTS HIGHER THAN THEY WERE TWO WEEKS EARLIER .
'TRIPLE A' IN ST. LOUIS REPORTS THE AVERAGE HERE IS AT A RECORD... 3.12 A GALLON.
WE'VE TOPPED THE OLD RECORD.

We are not going to go camping as much as we did we have an RV and it only gets 6 miles to a gallon, so we will have to stay home more. And not to drive anymore than needed. Whichis just a shame that the gov't is doing this to us.

it's a shame the gov't won't step in and stop this gouging.it's so obvious, and the oil companies are just putting it right in our faces, they're making record profits, yet there's always a "logical" explanation as to why it goes up,what a joke!the gov't sure likes to step in every other aspect of our lives!i think we as a people should try to get our wonderful gov't to do something for US for a change.

I live in Illinois and the gov't was quick to step in when the electric prices went up and they were quick to act on the no smoking ban but they are not jumping on the gas price issue very quick. guess they are getting a cut just like prsesident bush and vp cheney

It's ridiculous and even more so that we can't do anything about it. I have family in Texas we have been wanting to go visit for the past 2 years but every summer the prices sky rocket! It is still $2.95 here in Bourbon, but 7 miles down the road in Sullivan it is $3.17. CRAZY!

they said on msnbc that there are record profits too, so they dont know why the prices are up.

The prices are up because they know we have to get to work, run errands, take the kids places, et al..

We are a society that totally depends on fossil fuel..

Its nice they are coming up with hy-bred cars, electric cars and so on..This technology has been available for years..So has an engine that will get 100 mpg or more..I bet you don't see THAT one on the market anytime soon..

I am working on a way to turn the chicken manure into gas for the car...or maybe just catch some squirrels and hang a nut in front of them..

I'm sure Bush is wringing his hands in consternation for the horrible price gas has risen too..Maybe he won't take out Airforce One, in order to conserve fuel..

i $old my RV. if missouri or any other state wants my touri$m dollar, they better start squawking. i buy ga$ only enough for a few days to and from work at a time. i refuse to fill my tank and $tore the ga$ so tho$e greedy oil companie$ can bend us over and cram more in the ground before they rai$e the price again. it is rediculous for america to store millions of gallons of ga$ for them just beacuse we are too lazy to pump a few gallons every other day or so.

You folks better get locking gas caps . The slugs will be out with their Arkansas credit cards . For any of you that don't know what an Arkansas cretit card is , Its a 4 foot piece of garden hose and a 5 gallon can .
They will be stealing gas .

Luvthykids, I sold my boat last year. I agree.
Babylove, I think I would rather be held up than gouged like this. At least I could file a complaint with the cops, and if they caught them, they would arrest them.
Asmerelda, I'm doing that stay at home more thing now. At least I have hand tools that don't take gas!
Higgins, I'm biting the bullet and going to see my mom and grama anyhow. Some things you just need to do.
Rosie, hahahaha, OK, I wish I still had my Escort too instead of my F-150.
Marmee, they had one hybrid that got even better. It was tiny, but with the electric, it did good.
Saved by Grace, I wish I lived close enough to get to anything I need by walking. At least I have access to Metro Link a few blocks away, and bus stops too. I got rid of my bicycle years ago, and wish I still had that.
Cutter, are those locking gas caps worth it? I've never had one and was wondering if they really lock that well.
Mud, wasn't there an old 60's saying? "x$$, ga$ or gra$$. Nobody ride$ for free." I agree, there are going to be a lot of tourism dollars lost. The oil companies will get theirs one way or another. If they can do it on fewer gallons, will.
So why was it again that Halliburton moved thier headquarters to Dubai?

The gas prices do stink and it is affecting my children. We love to go to the ZOO and to Grants Farm but that has been cut back because of the high gas prices. I wish someone could step in and lower the prices

bgbdwlf2000 . I think the locking gas caps are worth it . Stealing gas is all about speed and silence . Anything that will make them not want to take the chance is worth it . And they do work . We have one on both our vehicles . They run 7 to 15 dollars at 3 dollaos per gallon thats a small price .

What I dont understand is if our local politicians would have to pay for their own gas and electric then we might see something happen and see the prices go down, instead of making us hard working people pay for it. Why dont all of us starting going to the CEO of the gas companies houses and start complaing and making them take a pay cut, or make them work as a middle class worker for a week and try to pay there bills with the money they make?? Then just maybe they will do something.
