UPDATE STATE TAKES OVER SCHOOLS

MISSOURI'S BOARD OF EDUCATION VOTED FIVE TO ONE TO STRIP THE ST. LOUIS SCHOOL DISTRICT OF ITS ACCREDITATION.

A TRANSITIONAL TEAM WILL TAKE OVER THE DISTRICT.. EFFECTIVE JUNE 15TH.

SEVERAL STUDENTS OPPOSED TO THE TAKEOVER FORCED THE SHUTDOWN OF THIS MORNING'S MEETING IN JEFFERSON CITY.

ONE STUDENT WAS HANDCUFFED AND TAKEN AWAY BY CAPITOL POLICE.

These kid acvtivists don't even know what they are protesting about. They need positive direction. I can't understand why we never heard about any parents or board members removing the kids presence from the situation. That fact that teachers and kids, together, went to Jeff City is ridiculous.

The takeover is obviously for the best. Its a shame it came to this drastic conclusion.

I THINK WHEN THE STATE NEGLECTS A CHILD , THE FEDERAL WILL HAVE TO TAKE OVER .

BREAN NEW FEDERAL JAILS . GET ME????

I noticed there were actually interviews of parents on the evening news. I bet it was a real search to find any parents who actually cared enough to talk. Lack of parent involvement is what allowed this situation go on as long as it did. Where were the parents demonstrating? It was left to the students to fight their own fight. Teachers have no power to make change. Students have no power to make change. Parents are the ones with the power and they are glaringly absent.
No support from the board and no support at home. The students are caught in the middle of apathy.
