Sources from Jefferson City have told Fox 2 that the state will unaccredit St. Louis public schools and nominate the CEO of McBride and Sons building company Rick Sullivan as head of the transitional school board.

This won't sit well with alot of people including the two bus loads of students, parents, and teachers who left from St. Louis this morning.

They are in Jefferson City to talk with the state board of education to make known their opposition to a state takeover and transitional school board.

I asked a member of Local 420, the teachers union, what would they do if the state does take over.

He told me they have discussed two options

1. legal action

2. a possible strike

It would be hard to support a strike since it is illegal for teachers in Missouri to strike. The St Louis School System is a joke. Maybe if it was taken out of the hand of city officals maybe they can salvage the whole thing.
