A morning ritual turns tragic for a 87 year old grandmother in Santa Ana.  A driver hits her as she's crossing the street before dawn and just drives away with her in the middle of the street.  It doesn't seem possible.  It's definitely not humane.  Did the driver freak out.  Maybe.  But now's the time to man up or woman up...accept responsibility and turn yourself in.  The victim is fighting for her life while her family prays for her recovery.  If you're the driver and you're reading this...then you know what to do.  If you know who did this...hopefully, you know what to do.

Df,
What in this tragic story led you to blame any specific race? Why do you need to make these assumptions without having anything to base it on? Nothing about what Al wrote in this blog has any indicator of “ethnicity or immigration status” yet you choose to spout negativity about a group of people who very likely had nothing to do with this.

My cousin was killed in 2003 by a hit and run driver... the man who killed my cousin is as caucasian as they come, born here in America, no immigration issues. He was stealing the boat and trailer that came loose from the uhaul truck on the freeway that killed my cousin. That truck was rented and released to him on a suspended license; he had 9 arrest warrants out on him and a rap sheet a mile long. This man was not here illegally, yet he did great harm... how does this fit into your illegal immigrant equation?

My point is… every race, every group of people… no matter how you choose to separate them, label them, segregate them… no matter what group you are talking about… there is good and bad within it. There is no need to make assumptions in order to fuel your distaste for illegal immigrants. We have plenty of people doing great harm to others who were born and raised here in America.

Al,
My prayers and best wishes go out for this Grandma and her family. I hope that they find the person responsible for harming her.

Ok Al. What was the morning ritual? What was the 87-year-old's name? Etc... We'll compare the facts with the other 40 recent hit-and-run collisions in the southland. Give us all of the details so we can make a judgement on this "isolated" incident...

Df,
Why do "we" need to make any "judgment" on this? What good would it do? Will it aid in the woman healing? Would it make the person responsible for this accident take responsibility for it? What would "we" gain or benefit from it?

I just hope that no matter what ethnicity or immigration status any of the people are in this situation, that the injured woman can recover and go back to her life and her family. I hope that the person who injured her can do the right thing, and take responsibility for their actions.

Shans,

yeah I hear ya. I don't know why we even lock up murderers, the dead victims ain't comin' back, huh? What was I thinkin'?

df,
Don't twist my words to serve your purpose. The last sentence in my last post said, "I hope that the person who injured her can do the right thing, and take responsibility for their actions." Yet you attempt to twist what I said into implying that I don’t want them to be held accountable… which could not be farther from the truth.

Unless you are a Native American Indian, then you too carry “immigrant” blood in your veins. Your obsession with illegal immigrants is excessive and it is emotionally unhealthy to carry so much hate in your heart all the time.

You are not the judge or the jury for this case... therefore your "judgment" on this situation is mute and unnecessary.

Therefore to answer your question regarding, "what were you thinking?"...
I am still waiting for a sign that you are "thinking."

Oh yeah! Talking out of both sides of your mouth isn't fooling anyone any more. Acting like you believe in personal responsibility, then in the same breath, watering down the details by talking in very BROAD terms is what people like you do. People with no moral compass to help them distinguish between.......right and wrong. You must be a Tony Villar or William Bratton speechwriter.

It has become painfully obvious that you perceive what you want to hear rather than what is being said... I have stated my points clearly, and then you choose to twist my words and perceive them in ways that could only come from a bitter place within you. I am sorry that your bitterness drives your perception of the life that you choose to live in…
I wish nothing but contentment and happiness for you.
As I have said throughout this thread...I hope that the Grandma has a full recovery and that the person responsible for hurting her will come forward and take responsibility for what they have done to her.

Thanks Shans, good points.
I think this Deportation guy is just kidding around because no sane person could really think like that and admit it. ;-)

99% chance if there's a hit and run in California an unlicensed, uninsured, drunken illegal alien is behind the wheel. You can bank on that one.

Fatal Hit and Run

One pedestrian was killed and two others critically injured Friday in a hit-and-run collision near Los Angeles' border with Vernon, a fire department official said.

The collision was reported at 6:56 p.m. at 3200 E. Washington Blvd., d'Lisa Davies of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

shans,

You make no points because the article is vague about details. In a court of law, that's called.....LYING BY OMISSION...I know how it works.

df,
The points I made were clear and concise... just because you don't understand their meaning does not mean that my point was not obvious. It means that your ability to perceive anything outside of your own predetermined mindset is un-comprehendible to you at this point in your life. Someday you may look back and see thing differently, for the sake of your happiness and those around you… I hope so.

Funny how people like you and Al continually FAIL to bring us details. Speaking in BROAD TERMS does not cover a multitude of sins. I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to go do some of that domestic work that YOU and Whorehay Booooooosh say us Americans won't do. I gotta mow my front and back lawns....later.

I am glad that you are getting outside and enjoying a bit of this awesome weather we are having today...

What details are you looking for that I have not specified in my posts? I would be happy to clear up what ever I can.

Who is the "YOU" that you mentioned in your last post? No one here has said anything about anyone doing or not doing domestic work. Where did that come from?

Have fun mowing, I used to love getting out there and being one with those lovely green blades.

Just in case anyone really wants the facts, here is a link released by AAA related to Fatal crashes, even breaking it down by state.

While Mr. Deportation has some validity to his point, it is waaaaaayyyyy overstated.

Facts is facts.

The OC's my beat for FOX 11 News. But you can catch me covering just about any story, any place, any time. Have news, will travel! I've been doing that here at Fox 11 for 15 years, traveling coast to coast and south of the border. You never know what you might do or where you might end up and your assignment could change from one minute to the next. To me, that's what being a reporter is all about. And it's pretty cool working in an area where I was born and raised. Yep, I'm a native Angeleno and proud of it!! In case you're wondering, Naipo is Hawaiian, the short version of the 21-letter ancestral name, Naipoikamanaihookaahi....
Good luck on the pronunciation.
