McCain needs to look really hard at Dr. Rice for his VP!  Right now, its the old white guy, vs. young black guy with 90+% of the black vote.  McCain continues to have a void in his conservative world, and also needs someone that the world recognizes as the face of American policy!   Dr. Rice fills that bill!  She gives the disheartened women from Hillary's campaign another women, she brings the black vote to BOTH sides of the Presidential race, and has been vetted by the strongest of liberals this nation has to offer!

I don't think she really brings a "Bush Stigma" with her, as it can be easily dismissed as proof of her serving at the pleasure of the elected President.  For Dr. Rice to walk out onto the stage and raise hands with McCain in the Republican ticket, you will bring the conservatives back, bring the Black AND FEMALE vote to the Republican side, and show that the GOP is HEARING THE CALL OF THE PEOPLE!!

She is probably the strongest VP candidate that he could find.
It would be nice to hear her opinions of some issues, especially where she differs from Bush.
Unless she makes a distinction between herself and Bush, she could be a liability.

True, but one thing not to forget, Condalesa Rice has something Hillary doesn't, and that's many years of hardship turned into a successful future she has made for herself.

Condalesa can relate to many of the hardships all of us have been through and because of her experience, she can put us on a realistic path of direction we as a Nation need at this time. And the fact Condalesa is a very intelligent woman who knows how to support her team players with success, she would definitely make a very interesting "First Woman" President.

Boy I tell ya what....I think she's great! Even as a white male, I'd vote for her in a heart beat. That's one tough, smart woman.

afelton.. well there of course like any sub-culture in American Blacks have different postures in society as well. Dr. Rice for example (IMO) is NOT embraced by the Sharpton/Jackson/Wright types of blacks. She likely is embraced by the Honorable Judge Thomas, Michael Steel of MD., NPRs lead commentator (name escapes me) types.

There is a caviot to the statement "not seeking" VP vs. approached for the position.

Dr. Rice, Would you honor this great nation with your continued outstanding service and accept the position of VP?

The first Female, black, PhD, and SINGLE! VP ever!

Doesn't matter who McLiberal picks. Voting for him and (fill in the blank) is just choosing between evils. I figure if we're gonna have a liberal President, might as well be a real one- Ralph Nader.

RandyLoo.. Actually Caroline Kennedy is one of 3 names picked to start a panel to help Obama decide on a VP. Others include the former CEO of Fanny Mae, who ran Kerry's VP research and Mondale's campaign..

LOL! Its like looking for a new Captain of a Ship and choosing a man that operated the Titanic and Exxon Valdez to help you pick!!

Yes maybe, but I am not a fan of Rice Anymore... she really has fallen short and McCain is running away from anything Bush. I like Crist or Alaska Governor Sarah Palin if a girl picked.

Sarah Palin would be a good choice so long as she does not bring the stigma of Ted Stevens with her. The KING of Republican Earmarks.

Crist I don't think is on the top of the short list. That would mean a special election for Florida for replacing him wouldn't it?

ANd ALaska doesnt help McCain where Florida does. I cant see anyother gov or senator that will help McCain unless Ohio or CA state folks.

Rice, while smart, talented, and great isnt a campaigner and debater and would add to the boring McCain tone. Here debates with Obama pick would be Rice-IRag 101 and nothing else.

I really have a thing with anyone like former Advisors not burning up the agenda or Senators not doing anything for 20 years (like Kerry... McCAin at least did stuff.. not all good, but Kerry was a joke)

I am dying to see who Obama picks. Might be Webb of VA , or Bill Richardson of New Mexico... but McCAin might win those states anyway.

Rice will go down as one of the worst SOS ever. Prove me wrong and list her accomplishments while serving in that position. I like Crist and hope he doesn't go. Besides this country is not ready for a gay VP.

In all fairness to Dr Rice I do hear that she is one heck of a piano player. Good thing cause her time on the NSC left something to be desired.

In Dr. Rice's defense. Its pretty hard to get any work done with other nations when as soon as you leave either Pelosi herself or former Pres. Carter come in behind you and cloud the water after efforts to clear it up!

I can't think of a time when a Democrat President was in office and after his Sec.of State left a country that GOP sent in it biggest "right wingers" to muck it up again!

I didn't see Ford, Bush 1, Nixon, Reagan, etc running around the globe working against the policy of a sitting administration!
