Thursday night, Donald Trump; himself not known as a moral barometer, allowed Piers to hear it from two lesser evil contestants. The other contestants, Trace Atkins and Steven Baldwin, a born-again Christian, were allowed to challenge Piers on his ruthless behavior. Piers has been considered a "good business person" because of his disdain of people and love of money.

One of the things that didn't surprise me but still disturbs me is the laughter in the "live" audience when the team spoke of Baldwin’s Christian testimony. I was kinda hoping that even an audience whose primary interest is large sums of money would have some idea of where wealth comes from.

TRUMPS BOTTOM LINE:

$

Some trumps, er things don’t change.

Piers won.

There will be commenter’s who will say that this post belongs under the "Faith" section of the blogs, but this post addresses morals and treatment of Christians in the media.  I dare say that if the celebrity lineup included a Muslim, all conversation and behavior would have been steered in the other direction.

Okay, I've said my peace. Let the onslaught begin.

I don't watch the show but is that Christian, Baldwin the same drug addicted man who left weird messages on his daughters phone?

mom: No, that was his brother. Steven has seriously been working with him to try and straighten him out, too. Steven has given his testimony on several programs that do "outside the church" ministry, which in my humble opinion is the most important job the church has. Can't stand people who "play church".

i agree, the ministry outside of those building walls is what IMO saves so many.
drug addiction is so difficult to overcome but it can be done and hopefully Mr. Baldwin will get some help. Hopefully he will deal with whatever it was that sent him down that road to begin with. Years ago i was that kind of person and have spent all my adult life trying to make it up to myself and to God. Had it not been for my Christian foundation i would have been lost with no hope. Sounds like the Baldwins also have that same foundation, it'll help

AGodThing,
I missed the end of the show last night (we were in the middle of news) but wasn't surprised to hear the outcome. All of the tasks were judged on the same outcome: the team who made the most money won. (Although it was for various 'charities', it WAS all about $$.)

My question is, are you surprised? Very few reality shows today AREN'T about money! Even the morally bereft "Moment of Truth" says money is more important than anything else, such as delicacy or privacy.

Maybe it makes the point that honesty is the best policy. But maybe we all have skeletons that should remain in the closet. (However, I think they find these people in divorce courts or something-- the couples have clearly already cheated on each other).

Good point, alicek. And, no I wasn't at all surprised. It is politically correct to dis the Christians and to stay mute when any other religion is present. (Of course, I personally don't ascribe to religion. I base everything on relationship.)

I'm about as involved as one can be in my community. I live suburban life through the families I minister to.I endured 27 years as a broadcaster, and in that time I learned to appreciate the power one can have in the newsroom. I have also seen that power abused. ...So I blog!
