One of the things that sets this country apart from many is the perceived separation of our tax money and our free-will offerings to organizations. I say "perceived" because this really isn't the case at all. Our tax dollars go to directly support all kinds of organizations that also receive private donations. Some of it has hit the fan and resulted in some major changes within organizations like PBS. But for the most part, it just slides right on by, fueled by the thought that if people blindly give to The United Way without knowing who they are supporting with their contributions, they won't bother to check out the same sort of thing in Washington.

I was kinda wanting to know if we have any whistle blowers here who would like to expose a few of these "orginazations".  Fire away.

Yep. Pork Barrel spending includes such involuntary benevolence as Planned Parenthood. They're stuff only leaked out recently because of the good Senator from Indiana, who blew the whistle on their going WAY over the edge and federal regs on abortion.

Oh, that's a really great suggestion. But don't even get me started on this labor union turned nation of its own. I've got some really different ways of thinking, how come I can't get unlimited federal support?

You can't get unlimited federal support because you are not an illegal alien

Unions? Bah! They were useful wayyyyy back when but have run their course and served their purpose. Now they are mere siphoners of money and I don't like them at all.

I say we start with Congress... like them really be public servants and work for nothing. That would empty the DC in 15 min. Then we could see who's really interested in helping our government do the right thing.

Cut funding to everything... PBS (leftist), NEA (leftist), etc., etc.

Most of them are wealthy anyway, Chard, so they'd probably do it sans a paycheck, because what the hay, they'd still be lining their pockets with kickbacks and other shady deals.

None of our tax money goes anywhere "directly" except government coffers! After they have taken their bloated wasteful budgets, then the crumbs go to charities, etc.

The worst part is that a very large chunck of our tax dollars goes to foreign aid. So when you go to bed at night knowing that the old couple down the street decided to buy food instead of medicines this week, at least we paid for some worthless basta-- in a another country to have their medicines. And know that they hate the United States.

I'm about as involved as one can be in my community. I live suburban life through the families I minister to.I endured 27 years as a broadcaster, and in that time I learned to appreciate the power one can have in the newsroom. I have also seen that power abused. ...So I blog!
