AGodthing's Blog

I mused about the recent blog entry regarding the sled wipeout. It reminded me about one of my recoveries. I was working at a radio station in Colorado. We get used to the timing of things; perhaps a little too used to it. The network news was on, so I used it as an opportunity to make time with the receptionist, across the reception area from the control room. (This was before I met my wife. Really.)

There I was, thoroughly involved with being cool, when I hear "...And that's the news..." I start off running from the reception desk, down the hall and around the automation side. By the time I reach the sound lock at the control room, I'm running at full speed, and I would have made it if it weren't for the steel-reinforced inside corner of the sound lock. It was only a very slight miscalculation, but my forehead hit the corner with such force you could hear it upstairs-- in the General Manager's office.

Recovery?  Of course. In spite of searing pain and large amounts of blood, I managed to open the mike, and with my usual cheery voice say "Today's forecast calls for..." It was only later that I realized I had a concussion.

The things we do for the love of the job.

I've been away for a while. What's goin' on, bloggies?

Oh...thank goodness you only were on the mike and not needed in front of the camera! Spewing blood is not cute on a tv anchor!! LOL

Not much going on in the blogs...can you tell?

I never made any comparable TV bloopers. All of the video stuff was too documentary. Did everyone else leave town, too?

no clue. I'm not online everyday now...so I am clueless on the going ons in here nowaday.

All I know is that the fighting and bickering is over (for the moment) so many people seem to have either left or no longer have anything else to say. Even the posts have dried up.

Must say even I have gotten bored with the blogs.

That's kinda the nature of a blog. As a daily diary, there have to be days that are just dull...unless you happen to run into a corner...really hard.

Scotty: Really, I was talking about radio when I got caught with my mike down. You believe me, right? Sorry I'm slow with the responses. I'm juggling too many blogs!

We could have a rip-roaring laugh fest with just studio humor alone!

And why is it that no matter how ugly they are, the receptionists get all that attention??? :)

I never slammed my head into a metal door, but I was directly involved in a couple of "funnies" over the years.....

I'm about as involved as one can be in my community. I live suburban life through the families I minister to.I endured 27 years as a broadcaster, and in that time I learned to appreciate the power one can have in the newsroom. I have also seen that power abused. ...So I blog!
